The work aims to prevent, detect, and stop criminal activity. The department is divided into four units with geographical responsibility: South, West, East, and North, and also includes the Swedish Customs Selection Center as well as the unit for strategic analysis and the national desk.
The Selection Center (TSC) is a crucial part of implementing the Swedish Customs' mandate by providing specialized expertise in selection and profiling capabilities.
We are looking for a Data Analyst for the Swedish Customs Selection Center (TSC). The position is a parental leave replacement, valid until December 30, 2027, at the latest. Individual salary setting applies.
About the Role
The Swedish Customs Selection Center (TSC) is tasked with selecting and profiling, managing risk outcomes, and proposing risk objects in the Swedish Customs' operational information with the aim of preventing, stopping, and detecting smuggling crimes. In your role as an analyst, you will work with data related to objects arriving in or departing from Sweden.
Leadership and management are largely remote, and as an employee, you work nationally, which means you collaborate with colleagues located in different parts of the country working with various flows. This places high demands on teamwork and flexibility. Collaboration internally as well as with external authorities is a natural part of the work.
As an employee at the Swedish Customs Selection Center, you are expected to contribute to the continuous development and improvement of operations together with managers and other employees. In the role of Data Analyst at the Swedish Customs Selection Center, you work operationally with handling and analyzing collected data from manifests, booking details, and pre-arrival notifications (SID) in both structured and unstructured formats, as well as large and complex volumes. In your daily work, you will be part of our development, analysis, and selection group and collaborate closely with case handlers who select the various transport flows. In addition to data analysis, you will have an active role in the selection work and assist the unit in developing new risk indicators, risk objects, and other relevant analysis and statistics that can help the group achieve its goals. We are looking for someone who can contribute to improving our current selection tools and creating new tools, as well as working operationally in the various flows so that the Swedish Customs Selection Center develops with more advanced risk rules.
It is important that your analyses are presented and communicated clearly and pedagogically, both in writing and verbally. You are expected to work both independently and in a team, which means you will gain insight into the value of the analyses and data you deliver.
As a Data Analyst at TSC, your days will vary depending on the passenger and cargo flows to and from Sweden. You primarily work with data analysis within different delivery areas and collected data from various transport flows. Together with others or independently, you also contribute to development work focused on operational activities. The operations are multifaceted, placing high demands on flexibility. The authority is also in constant development and change, which affects daily life.
We are looking for someone who has:
- An academic education in e.g., statistics, data analysis, or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position
- Experience or education in intelligence work and hypothesis testing
- Good knowledge of Power BI or similar tools
- Good knowledge of statistical tools (SQL, Python, and/or R)
- Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
- A Swedish driver's license, at least class B
- Swedish citizenship
It is an advantage if you have:
- Experience working with and analyzing large datasets
- Experience working with different data sources and data structuring
- Experience with requirements specification in the data and analysis field
- Good knowledge of information management systems
- Knowledge of register legislation regulating personal data handling

You quickly understand problems and tasks; solve problems in a creative and relevant way and come up with suggestions and inventive solutions. You have the ability to get things done.
As a person, we see that you appreciate and contribute to a good atmosphere; you are considerate, cooperative, communicative, tolerant, open, and responsive. We also appreciate that you are resilient and can work under pressure.
You follow the organization's rules and procedures, implement plans with enthusiasm and determination, achieve results with high quality, and work independently, are proactive, responsible, and trust in your own abilities.
