Do you want to work with forecasts and make a difference for society?
We are now looking for someone who wants to work with the Swedish National Debt Office's forecasts for the state budget. The Swedish National Debt Office plays a vital role in the national economy, and you will contribute to the efficient management of the state's finances. You will be part of the Forecast Unit within the Economic Analysis Department, which consists of six employees and a unit manager.
What we offer
As an analyst in the Forecast Unit, you will monitor and analyze data, work on forecasts for the labor market and budget balance, and contribute to writing the Swedish National Debt Office's Public Debt Report.
The Forecast Unit is responsible for producing forecasts for the state's budget balance. Our forecasts are used both as decision-making support for the Swedish National Debt Office's borrowing activities and by external stakeholders. In our work, the unit develops forecasts for economic development, state revenues and expenditures, and the state's net lending. The forecasting work is carried out in close collaboration with the Swedish National Debt Office's Debt Management Department.
The unit's responsibilities also include publishing and analyzing official statistics on the state's net borrowing requirement, as well as conducting in-depth analyses in all areas important to the state's finances.
Your profile
We are looking for you who have:
- An academic degree in economics or statistics.
- Good proficiency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
- Experience in forecasting the state's budget balance or economic development.
- Experience with forecasting work using Eviews.
As a person, you are proactive, meticulous, and responsible. You have strong collaborative skills and can communicate easily with both internal and external counterparts. You are interested in societal issues and keep up with economic developments.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Experience with the operations of the Swedish National Debt Office.
- Experience working with statistical production.
- Experience working at a government agency.

Financial Holdings
As an employee of the Swedish National Debt Office, you are required to report your holdings of financial instruments. Special permission is required to hold shares in banks as an employee of the Swedish National Debt Office.
Security Classified Position
As an employee at the Swedish National Debt Office, you may be called up for military service based on the needs of the total defense. Some roles are classified for security reasons, and Swedish citizenship may therefore be a requirement. If the position is classified, a background check will also be conducted. A security clearance investigation will be carried out before a decision on employment is made.
