We are looking for an experienced research officer for the Research Support Office with a focus on the EU research programs, where you will play an important and developing role in supporting researchers and developing routines in a dynamic and professional environment.

About the Department/Group

The Research Support Department provides strategic and operational support in external research funding, strategic initiatives, collaboration, business law, and fundraising. The department consists of about 50 employees and is divided into 4 groups. We are now looking for a research officer for the Research Funding group. The group is responsible for advising on applications for research grants, handling approved research projects, administrative project management for EU projects, support for EU economists, as well as export control and research ethics.

You will join a group characterized by great commitment and responsibility. Our goal is to provide good support to the operations and contribute to KTH's researchers being successful in external research funding. As an employee, you have a great personal responsibility for your tasks while collaborating in both smaller teams and broadly with other roles within operational support and KTH's researchers.

The position is primarily located at the Valhallavägen campus.

Job Responsibilities

As a research officer, you will be responsible for handling cases related to applications and contracting of research projects within the EU's MSCA program. Other cases may also arise, such as collaboration projects within Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, EDF, projects from Vinnova and the Swedish Energy Agency, and American funds. The main job responsibilities consist of preparing decisions for signing contracts for approved projects. You will work closely with other research officers and the research advisor for MSCA.

The work also includes:

  • Staying updated on regulations for the MSCA program and advising researchers and other staff both during the application process and after grants are awarded.
  • Holding kick-off meetings with researchers, HR, and financial support when new projects are approved.
  • Engaging in, and if necessary representing KTH in, the networks where KTH participates within the area of responsibility.
  • Participating in training initiatives for KTH's researchers together with research advisors and organizing training for colleagues in HR and finance, together with those responsible in these areas.
  • Holding regular check-ins with the MSCA research advisor and responsible experts in HR and finance regarding MSCA issues.
  • Developing routines for handling externally funded projects together with other officers and responsible experts in HR and finance.

Some part of the position may also involve other administrative tasks within the RSO's area of operations.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • University or college degree
  • Documented experience in handling cases at a higher education institution or other authority
  • Experience working in document and case management systems
  • Current knowledge and experience of EU research funding programs, systems, and regulations
  • Current experience from the university and higher education sector or another relevant employer
  • Good knowledge of the Office suite (Word, Excel, PPT)
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as both languages are used in the role.
