We are now looking for an inspiring institutional advisor responsible for academic guidance in law and admissions to international master's programs.
More information about us can be found at: Faculty of Law (https://www.su.se/enheter/juridiska-institutionen)
Job Responsibilities
In the role of institutional advisor, you will have many contacts and varied tasks at different levels. Subject knowledge in law is required as you will be responsible for students in need of academic guidance in law. An important part of the job is providing information and communication to both national and international students. You will participate and represent the faculty at various events such as student fairs for prospective students, welcome days, and other information activities. It is therefore necessary that you are social and outgoing and enjoy talking to others and in front of larger groups.
We are looking for someone who wants to work in an active academic environment with ambitious students and dedicated staff. Studying at the Faculty of Law can be stimulating, inspiring, and rewarding but also challenging and exhausting. Therefore, we need someone who can engage and professionally guide students to reach their full potential in their studies in both Swedish and English.
You will administer and be responsible for the admission and assessment of applicants to our international master's programs, which involves a lot of contact with applicants, the various programs, and the central admissions unit. Your tasks will also include working together with the faculty's international coordinator on processes regarding incoming and outgoing exchange students, such as handling scholarships and being responsible for information on the website/social media.
You will participate in investigations, follow-ups, projects, and various national and international networks. The work also includes continuously developing routines and workflows together with the program director and other administrative staff. Furthermore, general advice and dissemination of educational information via personal conversations, phone, and email, as well as issuing various types of exemptions, are included in the job. The position also encompasses administrative service towards students and colleagues, the release of public documents, and other administrative tasks at the Education Office. The tasks may change as needed.
The position is located at the Education Office, a group of dedicated and competent employees with an administrative program director as the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has recently completed or is in the final stages of a Swedish law degree. You have a very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English. You have some experience working administratively. Since we work with several different systems, very good computer skills are a prerequisite. It is an advantage if you have studied abroad yourself.
Personal Qualities
The work involves daily contact and interaction with people, which requires you to be service-oriented and communicative. You have an easy time conveying information both verbally and in writing in Swedish and English, are attentive, and feel comfortable both in one-on-one guidance conversations and speaking in front of larger groups. A good ability to prioritize and organize, as well as a structured, solution-oriented approach, is essential to perform the expected tasks carefully and efficiently. In a dynamic environment like the university, it is important that you are open to change, feel joy and pride in working with quality and responsibility, and are flexible and unpretentious.
The workload is sometimes very high, so stress tolerance, professionalism, patience, and an outgoing disposition are necessary qualities. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
About the Position
The position is full-time and temporary for 12 months (substitute), with good opportunities for extension. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.
