Södervärskolan is a primary school offering education for students in grades 4–9. The school currently has approximately 650 students, with 150 in grades 4–6 and the rest in grades 7–9. The school also operates an after-school center. The catchment area includes southern Visby, Eskelhem, Västerhejde, Träkumla, and Stenkumla.

Södervärskolan actively works to lay the foundation for a good learning climate by building positive relationships so that students feel comfortable and safe. In teaching, the starting point is the individual student's needs and abilities, which are developed in a group setting, fostering good collaboration skills and social competence.

A prerequisite for student learning is that teachers can identify the next steps in the development process. This gives students a goal to strive for and helps them understand how to get there. Students should leave school as knowledge-seeking and critically thinking individuals with good self-confidence, humanistic values, and engagement.

The school uses computers as a learning tool. The school employs librarians and social pedagogues to provide extra security and support for students. Student health services staff are present at the school daily.

Södervärskolan has a good sports hall and access to its own rooms for home economics and crafts. The school has its own cooking kitchen serving delicious meals, as well as a newly renovated school library located close to the school café.

We are now looking for you who are a certified teacher and passionate about providing support and guidance to students in a special education group at Södervärskolan.

Your Responsibilities

You will be one of two teachers responsible for a class. You will be part of a work team with other teachers who also work in special education groups at the school, offering opportunities for collegial supervision and experience sharing. The position is permanent with full holiday entitlement (100%).

Who are you?

You are a certified teacher with qualifications in mathematics, Swedish, English, and/or Social Studies (SO) for grades 7–9. Qualifications for grades 4–6 are also of interest.

You have experience in the subjects of mathematics, Swedish, English, and/or Social Studies. We look for candidates with several years of experience in pedagogical work; experience teaching in special education groups is a merit.

You have competence and experience in low-affective interaction and a relationship-based and salutogenic approach. You have excellent skills in collaborating with students facing challenges related to Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NPD), their guardians, and teachers in lower secondary school. Being flexible and able to adapt the day based on the student's well-being and motivation is a prerequisite.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
