Your Responsibilities

In your work at the after-school center at Nykil School, your task, according to the curriculum, is to stimulate the students' development and learning, as well as offer them a meaningful leisure time. Together with the work team, you plan, implement, and document the pedagogical work at the after-school center. As a childcare worker (barnskötare), you are expected to be able to work with both student groups and individual students. In this role at Nykil School, it is particularly advantageous if you have experience working with individual students. Your duties also include maintaining ongoing conversations with the students' guardians regarding their well-being, development, and learning.

As a childcare worker, you have knowledge of the after-school center's curriculum and other current regulatory documents. You follow the norms and values specified in the curriculum and contribute to implementing the organization's mission. The activity should be based on the students' needs, interests, and experiences, but also ensure that students are continuously challenged further by being inspired to new discoveries. In the teaching, students should be offered a variety of working methods, forms of expression, and learning environments that integrate care and learning.

The after-school center at Nykil School is open between 06:00 and 18:00 on weekdays. The position is full-time (100%) and working hours are scheduled within this time frame, Monday to Friday. The work team you will join at Nykil School collaborates with colleagues at the after-school center at Ulrika School.

As a childcare worker at the after-school center at Nykil School, you get the chance to do many different things and help students grow in themselves and with each other. You have access to, among other things, the forest, the schoolyard, and the sports hall at the school to create and lead various activities in the afternoons with the students. As a childcare worker, you see the possibilities with different configurations of student groups and integrating activities into everyday situations, such as during snack time.

Your Workplace

Nykil School is located in the heart of the Nykil community and offers activities from preschool class to grade 6. Today, there are approximately 200 students at the school. The operations are spread across several buildings and have a large schoolyard with direct access to the forest. The proximity to fantastic nature inspires play, excursions, and outdoor pedagogy. Together with approximately 10 colleagues, you will be involved in the forward work to create a sense of community. You will welcome approximately 100 of the school's students at the after-school center.

Who You Are

It is a requirement that you have a qualification as a childcare worker (barnskötare) from adult education or have completed the Child and Youth Program (Barn- och fritidsprogrammet) at upper secondary school. It is also a requirement that you have experience working with children in curriculum-driven activities, whether as an employee, through practice, or voluntarily. It is advantageous if you have experience working with individual students in primary school.

Furthermore, it is a requirement that you have good communicative skills in spoken and written Swedish. This is because, according to the curriculum (Lgr22), you must organize and carry out the work so that the child receives support in their language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that every child can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

In your role as a childcare worker, you build good relationships and collaborate well with children, colleagues, guardians, and other contacts that arise in your professional role. You have a good understanding of people's differences and relate to them in a listening manner in teaching and the school's daily life. You lead the work with children through motivation, engagement, and participation. The role also involves working with the school's current goals and quality standards together with your colleagues.

Since public transportation cannot be used to get to Nykil School during the times required for this position, we primarily look for applicants who have a driver's license and access to a car, or can otherwise get to the school conveniently.
