Workplace Description
The Medical Institutions' Registry Office in Malmö is a joint registry office for two of the Medical Faculty's institutions located in Malmö: the Department of Clinical Sciences Malmö and the Department of Translational Medicine.
This location offers patient-oriented research environments for the research groups active at the institutions. These groups have a total of approximately 400 employees, including associated staff employed by Region Skåne. The institutions conduct research and education, both within medical basic education and doctoral education.
The registry office's main task is to relieve the core operations and enable high-quality research and education. The registry office is responsible for ensuring that the university meets both external requirements and laws as well as internal rules and guidelines. The work is carried out with a focus on using resources efficiently based on the operations' needs and available funds. The registry office is located at the Clinical Research Center (CRC) in Malmö and currently consists of 11 people working within finance, HR, administration, and communication, led by an administrative manager.

Tasks and Responsibilities
We are now looking for a service-oriented, driven, and self-initiating economist who will provide qualified support to the institution's managers and employees within finance and procurement. As an economist at MiM, you will have a central and varied role where you are responsible for the finances of several research groups, which implies varied tasks with many contacts out in the operations among the different research groups.
You will become part of our committed and competent finance group. Within the finance function, you are four employees working as a team where you support and help each other, as well as share knowledge.
Your main tasks include:
- Analysis of operations, budget preparation, forecasts, follow-up, and accounting work
- Providing qualified support in financial matters
- Project reporting
- Handling and providing support in questions regarding procurement and purchases according to current regulations, as well as developing the process within the area
In addition to the above tasks, other administrative tasks within the finance area may occur.
You work closely with other economists at the registry office and in close collaboration with other functions at the registry office such as HR, administration, and communication. By supporting, informing, and collaborating with research group managers, research group leaders, and researchers in financial matters, you will gain a broad network within the institution and a good understanding of the operations.
Qualifications
The following are required for the position:
- A degree in economics or other academic education with equivalent content deemed equivalent.
- At least two years of work experience in qualified finance and accounting work.
- Good system proficiency and experience working in various systems.
- Good knowledge of Excel.
- Good ability to express yourself in English and Swedish, both orally and in writing.
- An analytical and problem-solving approach.
- Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The tasks as an economist at MiM require you to be careful, service-oriented, and take responsibility for planning and carrying out your tasks. You must also be structured and efficient in your way of working and possess the ability to switch between details and the overall perspective. You should be able to work independently but also function well in a group where everyone contributes, which requires good teamwork skills and enjoyment of working with others. The tasks also require good communicative and pedagogical skills to be able to explain finance to non-economists in an understandable way.
Merits for the position include:
- Experience in qualified finance work within Lund University or another university/college.
- Good knowledge of and experience with financial systems such as Primula, Hypergene, and Raindance.
- Experience with project reporting.
- Experience with EU-funded research projects.
Other
The employment is permanent at 100%, with immediate start or as agreed. A six-month probationary period may apply.

The Department of Clinical Sciences in Malmö is one of the six departments at Lund University's Medical Faculty. We have a strong focus on clinical and epidemiological research and also conduct extensive preclinical laboratory research.
