Welcome to a multifaceted assignment where, through your professional role and expertise, you will hold a central position at the City Office and the Finance Department. As a Development Coordinator with a focus on case preparation and coordination, you will be close to the political decisions that influence the development of Sweden's third-largest city.

Responsibilities

As part of the core tasks at the City Office, you will write and prepare cases for decision by the Municipal Executive Board. In 2025, employees in the Finance Department were responsible for approximately 100 decision cases to the Municipal Executive Board. This included remiss responses, motions, proposals, steering documents, reports, and more.

We are looking for a new colleague to join the Economic Steering Unit, who will play a central role in planning and coordinating cases for the Municipal Executive Board and the Municipal Council. You will provide qualified support to the managers and staff of the Finance Department in the case processing workflow and collaborate with the City Office's secretariat unit and the city's various administrations. You will also write some of the department's cases.

The department aims to maintain high quality in both individual cases and processes. You will play a key role in contributing to learning and development to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of case handling. You will be part of a central case group at the City Office.

The role also includes other tasks such as coordinating cross-departmental operational planning, conducting investigations, developing and monitoring timelines, and providing administrative support to the department's management group.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an academic degree or education within social sciences, political science, law, economics, or another direction that the employer deems relevant.

You thrive navigating a politically driven operation with many stakeholders and enjoy synthesizing various perspectives into a functioning whole. You have several years of experience and familiarity with preparing and writing complex cases in a politically driven organization. This also implies a good ability to package oral and written information and knowledge into proposal and decision support materials.

Experience working in public sector operations at a general strategic level is meritorious. You have experience coordinating and quality-assuring processes in collaboration with others.

The assignment requires you to be a good relationship builder who creates effective collaborations. You work independently and handle several parallel processes, sometimes with short deadlines. You are structured and have good analytical skills. The position requires very good ability to communicate in speech and writing in Swedish.

About the Workplace

The Finance Department at the City Office has a municipality-wide responsibility for financial management, financing, accounting, follow-up, business systems, and strategic procurement. The department's mission is to support the Municipal Executive Board in leading, coordinating, and overseeing municipal operations. The Development Coordinator role is located within the Economic Steering Unit, which is responsible for the municipality's consolidated financial management and strategic property supply.

The City Office directs, challenges, and strengthens the development potential in the organization, the city, and the region. We are the administration for the Municipal Executive Board and work with a holistic perspective close to the city's leadership. The City Office consists of seven different departments and has a total of approximately 300 employees. Our departments work within a broad spectrum of areas, and the administration has many employees with high specialist competence.
