Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for providing individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also operates closed youth care facilities. We do this through youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. Working at SiS offers you a thrilling challenge. Regardless of where you work within our organization or what role you hold, you will help create life-changing change.
SiS Youth Home Brättegården is located just outside Vänersborg. We receive non-compulsory school-age girls with psychosocial issues, mental health problems, as well as those involved in crime and substance abuse.
Job Description
Do you want to help create life-changing change for vulnerable people? Then the role of Treatment Pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge.
As a Treatment Pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators. Together, you are responsible for ensuring that young people and clients receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. The work involves meeting people in crisis and includes qualified nursing and motivational work, as well as providing support in daily life. With your competence in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the implementation of treatment plans. Documentation is a central part of the role, ensuring legal security and enabling planning and follow-up of operations. You also contribute to maintaining safety according to current procedures and creating structure in daily life through activities such as school attendance, cleaning, and cooking. Contact person responsibilities are part of the role, and you may also supervise new employees and interns. The job suits you if you see value in working with people in difficult life situations and are motivated by a demanding, developing, joyful, and varied assignment.
Within SFA (Special Enhanced Wards), you work with girls who have extensive psychiatric and neuropsychiatric issues, often a combination of autism, intellectual disability, ADHD, PTSD, self-harm behavior, and aggressive behavior. The care needs partially correspond to those within LSS (Support and Service Act), category 1, which places high demands on knowledge and adapted interaction based on the individual's conditions. Special Enhanced Wards differ from other treatment wards within SiS through smaller youth groups and high staff density, enabling close-to-individual work, often one-on-one. The central aspect of work on an SFA ward is a habilitative approach, focusing on creating safety, structure, and functional strategies in daily life, rather than traditional treatment. The goal is to give young people the prerequisites to manage life based on their individual needs and existing conditions.
Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our interaction, our engagement, and our approach.
Working hours are according to schedule: day, evening, and weekend.
As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training. The training alternates between theory and guided introduction, preparing you for the treatment role in SiS operations.
Qualifications
- A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work, or higher education education that we assess as equivalent.
- Category B driver's license
- Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing
As a person, you need to be a secure adult who is listening and has the ability to create trusting relationships with young people who have challenging behaviors. You must be able to remain calm in stressful situations and handle conflicts constructively. You need to see and understand the importance of collaborating with your colleagues while also being able to make independent decisions.
You should also have:
