Within the Child and Education Administration, our approximately 3,000 employees meet with around 14,000 children and students at more than 100 preschools and schools across the municipality every day. Every child and student in Sundsvall's preschools and schools should be able to develop, learn, and reach their goals according to their own prerequisites. Every student should leave school with the desire, knowledge, and good conditions to meet adult life and the future.
Your new workplace
Sundsvall Culture School is part of the Child and Education Administration and offers fee-free education in music, visual arts, dance, drama/theater, circus, film, and animation. The activity is an important part of the municipality's work to strengthen children's and young people's right to culture, creative creation, and personal development. Approximately 45-50 employees, all with high pedagogical education, work at the Culture School. The teaching takes place both as voluntary elective activity and on assignment during the day at schools around the municipality, and in the evenings at the Culture School's premises in central Sundsvall. The Culture School is a dynamic and development-oriented workplace that strives to give children and young people good opportunities for cultural learning.
How you contribute in the role of string teacher
Sundsvall Culture School is looking for a substitute for the string team with a focus on cello. The position includes cello teaching, both individually and in groups, with a focus on the joy of playing, ensemble playing, and concerts. The teaching is conducted both at schools during the day and at the Culture School's premises in central Sundsvall in the afternoons and evenings. Within the string team, teaching within El Sistema is also conducted at one of the municipality's primary schools, and work within this activity may be included in the position depending on the needs of the activity.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for you who have:
- An artistic university education with a focus on cello and pedagogical education, or other education and experience that the employer considers equivalent.
- Ability to plan, conduct, and adapt teaching based on each student's needs, prerequisites, and goals.
- A flexible, creative, and development-oriented way of working, as well as a willingness to contribute to the development of the Culture School of the future.
- Experience leading ensembles and orchestras at different levels.
- Experience teaching at a Culture School. Experience from primary school and special needs primary school is meritorious.
- Good ability to work independently, structured, and goal-oriented, as well as to plan, follow up, and develop the pedagogical work.
- Good ability to work in a changing activity and to adapt working methods and teaching based on changed needs and prerequisites, while contributing to the development of the activity.
- Class B driver's license.
We are looking for a teacher who is clear in their leadership and has a good ability to create structure, context, and security in teaching. You easily build trusting relationships with both students and colleagues, and can adapt teaching based on the individual's and the group's needs. You see diversity as a resource and work in an inclusive and development-oriented manner.
