Welcome to Sundsvall Municipality!
Sundsvall Municipality is one of the largest employers in Northern Sweden, with around 8,000 employees and over 300 different professions. Together, we fulfill one of society's most important missions – creating utility and value for residents, businesses, and future generations. Regardless of the specific department, we all work towards the same goal: to make Sundsvall a great place to live, work, and thrive.
We are currently in an exciting phase of development. We are a driving force in digital development and artificial intelligence, and together we are creating smart solutions for the people of Sundsvall today and in the future.
We are facing major transitions to meet the needs of our citizens in the long term – would you like to be part of this journey?
Within the Child and Education Administration, our approximately 3,000 employees meet with around 14,000 children and students at more than 100 preschools and schools across the municipality every day. Every child and student in Sundsvall Municipality's preschools and schools should be able to develop, learn, and reach their goals based on their own prerequisites. Every student should leave school with the desire, knowledge, and good conditions to meet adult life and the future.
Your new workplace
Sundsvall Cultural School is part of the Child and Education Administration and offers fee-free education in music, visual arts, dance, drama/theatre, circus, film, and animation. The activity is an important part of the municipality's work to strengthen children's and young people's right to culture, creative creation, and personal development. Approximately 45-50 employees, all with higher pedagogical education, work at the Cultural School. The teaching takes place both as voluntary elective activities and on assignment during the day at schools throughout the municipality, and in the evenings at the Cultural School's premises in central Sundsvall. The Cultural School is a dynamic and development-oriented workplace that strives to give children and young people good opportunities for cultural learning.
How you contribute as a Cultural School Teacher
As a teacher at the Cultural School, you will be responsible for teaching in both groups and individually, for students of different ages and levels. The teaching is largely conducted in the afternoons and evenings at the Cultural School's premises in central Sundsvall, but also during the day at various schools in the municipality.
The role includes:
- Planning, organizing, and conducting teaching for children's jazz groups, the Cultural School's advanced program in Jazz, open jazz workshops, and teaching guitar students both individually and in groups.
- Being part of one of the Cultural School's work teams that, in collaboration with primary schools, works with aesthetic learning processes, outreach activities, projects, and practical work within the school area.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for you who have:
- An artistic university education in guitar with a focus on jazz, or equivalent competence assessed by the employer as equivalent.
- The ability to inspire and adapt teaching based on students' different needs and prerequisites.
- A flexible and development-oriented approach to work.
- Experience working in a Cultural School and within the compulsory school system.
- Experience in cross-disciplinary collaborations.
- Good ability to work independently, structured, with experience in following up and evaluating pedagogical work.
- Good digital competence and experience using digital tools in teaching.
- A valid B-class driver's license is required for the position.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Experience teaching other instruments.
We are looking for a pedagogue who is clear in their leadership and has a good ability to create structure, context, and security in teaching. You easily build trusting relationships with both students and colleagues, and can adapt teaching based on the individual's and the group's needs. You see diversity as a resource and work inclusively and developmentally. Personal suitability is of great importance.
