Within the Child and Education Administration, our approximately 3,000 employees interact with around 14,000 children and students at more than 100 preschools and schools throughout the municipality every day. Every child and student in Sundsvall Municipality's preschools and schools should be able to develop, learn, and reach their goals based on their own prerequisites. Every student should leave school with the desire, knowledge, and good conditions to meet adult life and the future.

Your new workplace

Södermalm School is a preschool to grade 3 school (F-3) with approximately 220 students. The after-school center is divided into four units; one unit per grade level, and we have access to our own and newly renovated premises. The after-school staff working in a unit work with the same grade level during school hours. Furthermore, each class has at least one after-school staff member attached to the class and the teacher, and the after-school staff collaborate regarding the students. Södermalm School is part of the same organization as Höglundaskolan, where we actively work to create a preschool to grade 9 perspective with a focus on number sense, language development, and social learning environment. We work with two parallel types of work teams: After-school work team and Class teacher work team, but we also organize ourselves in grade-level teams where we plan the teaching together with the student's entire school day as the starting point. At our school, the F-3 teachers have the main responsibility for the scheduled time in school. The teachers then follow their students as class teachers up to grade 3. The school is located centrally in Sundsvall with proximity to both nature and culture.

How you contribute in the role of After-school Teacher / Preschool Teacher

As an after-school teacher, your main task is to drive and develop the after-school activities based on the curriculum, but during school hours, you are also expected to support students in their knowledge development and social development and be able to plan and conduct your own teaching in larger or smaller groups. This can, among other things, involve holding your own lessons, being a support in the classroom, working with a smaller group in math or Swedish, leading outdoor lessons, leading reading groups, and so on. This position is a placement in the upcoming preschool class where you will, together with your grade-level team, be responsible for ensuring that students receive a safe and educational introduction to the school world. As a preschool class educator, there is a strong focus on establishing good routines, creating safe groups, and building good relationships with guardians.

Your competence and experience

You have teacher certification as an after-school teacher or alternatively another teacher certification with experience working in after-school settings with younger children. You can lead yourself, take initiative, and have sufficient experience to make decisions on your own about how to best support the students at the school. You love being outdoors, regardless of the weather, and you see recess as an equally important "lesson" as the scheduled time. You are flexible and understand that in the school world, you need to be able to quickly change your tasks according to the operations or the students' needs. You have good knowledge of students in need of special support and can adapt your approach to meet the students' difficulties. Please note that this is a temporary position during the autumn term starting in August.

Salary: Monthly/hourly salary. Individual and differentiated salary setting is applied.

Conditions: Salary supplements beyond the monthly salary follow the applicable collective agreement. Central collective agreements can be found on the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions' website, www.skr.se
