Welcome to Sundsvall Municipality!
Sundsvall Municipality is one of the largest employers in Northern Sweden, with around 8,000 employees and over 300 professions. Together, we fulfill one of society's most important missions – creating utility and value for residents, businesses, and future generations. Regardless of the department, we work towards the same goal: to be a great place to live, work, and thrive.
We are currently in an exciting phase of development. We are a driving force in digital development and artificial intelligence, creating smart solutions for the people of Sundsvall today and in the future.
We are facing major transitions to meet citizens' needs in the long term – do you want to be part of this journey?
Within the Child and Education Administration, our approximately 3,000 employees meet with around 14,000 children and students at more than 100 preschools and schools across the municipality every day. Every child and student in Sundsvall Municipality's preschools and schools should be able to develop, learn, and reach their goals according to their own prerequisites. Every student should leave school with the desire, knowledge, and good conditions to meet adult life and the future.
Your new workplace
You will be employed at Essvik School, but the position is distributed between two units, with 50% of the position located at Essvik School and 50% at Norrbacka School. This distribution applies at present and may change based on the needs of the operations in the future. Essvik School is located in Kvissleby and belongs to the Nivrenaskolan F-9 organization. Approximately 170 students in grades F-5 attend the school.
Essvik School is beautifully situated in nature at the edge of the forest on the Essvik peninsula, at the outlet of the Ljungan river in Njurunda, south of Sundsvall. We value clear leadership, early interventions, and collegial learning to create safe and motivated students. We are positive, solution-oriented, and work together for the benefit of the students. Norrbacka School is a resource school for adapted primary education with a focus on subject areas, as well as an adapted upper secondary school within individual programs. The school is located in Nacksta in bright, spacious, and well-adapted premises based on student needs. Approximately 30 students attend here, distributed across six classes, including one upper secondary class. The students are at an early developmental stage and have multiple disabilities. Teachers, teaching assistants, leisure center teachers, and physiotherapists work in close collaboration with great commitment to the students' development.
How you contribute in the role of Music Teacher
Based on the curriculum, you plan, conduct, and evaluate teaching. At Essvik School, we sometimes use a two-teacher system in larger grade levels with more than 30 students. The grade level can then be divided into two classes. The two teachers share responsibility for the students, their teaching, and parent contacts. At Norrbacka School, you will teach students in smaller groups and work with support from teaching assistants. The teaching is adapted to each student's prerequisites and needs. You will be part of a work team where you plan and evaluate teaching together with others.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for you who are a qualified teacher in music. Alternatively, you have experience working within educational activities. It is meritorious if you have the qualification to teach music in grades F-9. If you also have qualifications in other subjects, we see this as an advantage. We assume you have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as experience using various digital tools.
We are looking for you who are flexible and confident in yourself. You have the ability to see and strengthen the positive aspects in students. You have good collaboration skills, are solution-focused, see opportunities instead of obstacles, take initiative, and build good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. It is meritorious if you have experience working with students who have neuropsychiatric disabilities or students who present challenges. A Category B driver's license is a requirement for the position.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability!
