Job Description

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to conduct research on advanced lens antennas for millimeter-wave and sub-THz systems. The research focuses on artificial electromagnetic materials and periodic structures for the control of electromagnetic waves, with applications in high-performance antenna systems.

The project involves the analysis, design, and experimental verification of lens antennas based on physical optics, transformation optics, metasurfaces, and glide-symmetric structures. The work includes the development of electromagnetic models, numerical simulations, prototyping, measurements, and the publication of research results in leading international journals and conferences.

The postdoctoral researcher will work in close collaboration with international research partners and contribute to the supervision of master's thesis students and doctoral candidates.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A completed PhD degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD in electrical engineering, technical physics, or a related field. This qualification requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Documented scientific proficiency in electromagnetics and antenna technology.
  • Very good knowledge of physical optics and high-frequency electromagnetics.
  • Experience in the analysis and design of antennas or electromagnetic components.
  • Experience with numerical electromagnetic methods and commercial simulation tools such as CST Microwave Studio or Ansys HFSS.
  • Documented ability to publish research results in international scientific journals and conferences.
  • Very good ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, as required in daily work.

Merits

  • At the last day of application, no more than three years have passed since the PhD degree or an equivalent foreign degree was awarded.
  • Documented research experience in lens antennas.
  • Experience with metasurfaces or other periodic electromagnetic structures.
  • Experience with glide-symmetric structures and dispersion analysis of periodic media.
  • Experience with millimeter-wave or sub-THz systems.
  • Experience with antenna measurements and experimental verification.
  • Pedagogical experience and experience in supervising students.
  • Experience in international research collaborations.
  • Awareness of diversity, equality, and non-discrimination issues is important for KTH and the research group.

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
