About the school

We are now looking for a certified special needs teacher specializing in intellectual disability.

About the job

Special needs teacher responsible for a group of students on the individual program. The students in the group have mild intellectual disability combined with ADHD/autism spectrum disorder (NPF) and other functional variations. Responsible for daily teaching within subject areas. Mentorship is included in the tasks, which means responsibility for and conducting development talks, monitoring students' development and individual goals and study plans, and contact with guardians. Pedagogical leadership in the classroom as well as leading and cooperating with resource staff is included in the work. Collegial cooperation and development work with other teachers on the individual program and also the national program aesthetic activities is expected. Planning, implementation, and follow-up of teaching are part of the daily work. Pedagogical lunch is applied, which means that staff eat with the students. Since education takes place throughout the school day and students need support throughout the school day, pedagogical lunch is applied.

About you

Special needs teacher competence is a prerequisite for the students' needs and development. Teaching students with intellectual disability requires an understanding of each student's conditions and needs. Individual adjustments and goals are a prerequisite for the student to develop from where they are. Experience working with students with intellectual disability is meritorious. Requirement of certification as a special needs teacher or special educator. Patience and long-term work are expectations, and the teacher applies low-affective handling. Experience in writing pedagogical investigations, action programs, and special support is meritorious and will be part of the work. Student health work related to teaching and mentorship is part of the professional role. Relationship building, predictability, and responsiveness are keywords in the work with students. Experience leading colleagues, e.g., resource staff, is meritorious but not a formal requirement. However, it is included in the work.
