The Culture School unit is located in the Culture House Tio14, which also includes the units Culture House Tio14 and Leisure for Young People. At the Department of Culture and Leisure, we collaborate to provide a wide range of meeting points for residents of Falun of all ages, offering stimulation, creativity, and opportunities for a physically active life. We believe that meaningful and fun culture and leisure activities increase quality of life and contribute to improved public health. Falun has a rich musical life with opportunities to participate. Several strong institutions within the cultural sector are based in Falun.
Job Responsibilities
You will primarily work with instrumental piano instruction for students aged 8–20 years. The instruction can take place both individually and in groups. You primarily belong to the piano subject group but will also collaborate closely with other educators at the Culture School, especially regarding the choir. We are looking for children's choir leadership competence, and part of the role involves leading a children's choir in a team with a colleague. The duties include contact with students, guardians, other activities in Culture House Tio14, as well as organizing and creating conditions for student concerts, etc. Holiday activities are part of the culture school's offerings, and we view it positively if you wish to contribute to developing these. The work takes place mainly on weekdays during afternoons and evenings but can also occur during daytime. Weekend work may occur, especially in connection with the culture school's outreach activities.
Qualifications
Required for the role:
- Relevant education from a university college of music or education deemed equivalent.
- Pedagogical experience as a piano teacher, in group music instruction, and as a children's choir leader.
- Good skills in the Swedish language, both oral and written.
- Knowledge of using digital tools (computer, etc.) for communication and student management.
Personal Attributes
In the role of an educator, you should be receptive in meetings with children and young people. You have good leadership skills and a strong focus on students. You have good communication skills with students, working actively to meet them and their interests. Furthermore, you can be both independent and a team player. As a person, you are willing to accept challenges and try new things. Organizing projects and placing importance on youth participation are not foreign to you.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
Meritorious Qualifications
- Experience from teaching within a culture school.
- Experience with a secondary instrument or another subject that can appropriately complement the content of the position.
- Category B driver's license and access to a private car.
- Experience working with children's rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
- Experience with the student management system SpeedAdmin.
Employment Terms
The position is a permanent employment according to the teachers' agreement area. The position is full-time (100%) starting 2026-08-10.
Work can take place during the day and evening, as well as sporadically on weekends in connection with outreach activities.
