As a teacher in Media Production at the Department of Media at Dalarna University, you will become part of a teaching team collaborating on a broad audiovisual field of knowledge. The department consists of the main areas of Media Production and Audiovisual Studies.

Your working day as a teacher/lecturer

The position includes teaching and supervision in Media Production at undergraduate and advanced levels, with a strong focus on sound, scriptwriting, and audiovisual design. Your teaching takes place on campus. You will participate in course development within the department's various undergraduate programs. You will administer, collaborate with, and be part of teaching teams and subject groups within the Department of Media. The duties primarily involve lectures, seminars, supervision, and workshops for our bachelor's programs: Music and Sound Production, Film Production, Media Production for TV and Social Media, and Script and Media Production.

For this position, it is important that your working approach is characterized by a willingness to collaborate with colleagues and accessibility to meet the individual needs of students. Responsibility for courses will be included in the long term and requires good administrative skills.

A large part of the work takes place in teams and in collaboration with the surrounding society, which means that good teamwork skills, initiative, and a high degree of responsibility are required in the role of lecturer at the department. Furthermore, it is important that you have good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

Qualifications for employment as a university lecturer are specified in the Higher Education Ordinance and in Dalarna University's employment regulations.

Eligible for employment as a university lecturer is someone who

• has demonstrated pedagogical skill.
• has completed a master's degree or an equivalent academic vocational education, or has other professional skills that are significant with regard to the subject content of the employment and the tasks to be included in the employment.

For this employment, the following is also required:

• You have a master's degree equivalent to studies in audiovisual studies and have experience in sound recording, film production, and scriptwriting.
• You have a Bachelor of Arts (Fil.kand) in sound and/or image production.
• Basic knowledge of audiovisual production equipment.

It is meritorious if you

• Also have a university pedagogical education within journalism.
• Can or have knowledge of the following software and administrative systems:

Pro Tools, Screenwriter, Final Draft, Adobe Premiere, FL Studio, Media Composer, Canvas, TimeEdit, and Cheeqroom.

As we place great importance on pedagogical skill, applicants who do not already possess the qualifying university pedagogical education are expected to acquire this competence within two years from the start of employment.

To succeed in the role of university lecturer, teamwork skills are required. Other competencies that may be required include initiative, a high degree of responsibility, and administrative ability.

The University will, in this recruitment, consider the candidate who, after a qualitative overall assessment, is judged to have the best prerequisites for fulfilling the duties of the position.

It is important that applicants for employment who lack the qualifying university pedagogical education are given the opportunity to acquire this competence as soon as possible.

The employment is a permanent position, 50% full-time, with a start date of 2026-08-17. Probationary employment may apply. Dalarna University is a higher education institution operating in two locations. The place of work for this position is Falun, although some work may also take place in Borlänge.
