Bona Folk High School is looking for an educator who wants to lead learning thematically, digitally, and close to the participants – preferably with competence in social studies, history, religion, and English.

One of our teachers in the social sciences and humanities is retiring, and we are now looking for you who want to help further develop learning at Bona Folk High School. The position covers 50–100%, depending on your competence and which subject areas you can contribute to. The start date is August 2026 or as agreed.

About the role

We are looking for you who have broad subject competence and can contribute in several areas such as social studies, history, religion, culture, democracy, ethics, media, and current societal issues.

At Bona, we work thematically. This means that learning is not primarily built up as separate subject lessons, but around questions, contexts, and themes where several knowledge areas meet. History, religion, societal issues, language, economics, culture, worldview, power, democracy, and world analysis can therefore be woven together in the same work area.

The working method requires that you are curious about areas outside your own subject background and enjoy collaborating with colleagues to create a whole and meaning in the participants' learning.

A significant part of the work is conducted in English. Therefore, you need to have very good knowledge of English and be able to lead learning processes in English, both orally and in writing.

Our working method

Bona Folk High School has developed a working method over several years where digitalization, AI, and relationship-building pedagogy are a natural part of learning. With us, digital technology is not an addition on the side, but part of how we create accessibility, structure, community, and presence.

We use digital environments for communication, course structure, guidance, and joint learning. We also work actively with AI as support for learning, reflection, language, analysis, and the participants' ability to process complex questions and express their thoughts.

You don't need to know everything from the start, but you need to want to learn, try, and contribute to further development.

We are looking for you who

  • have broad competence in social sciences and/or humanities
  • can contribute in several areas such as social studies, history, religion, culture, ethics, democracy, and global issues
  • have very good knowledge of English and can lead learning in English
  • are interested in thematic and cross-disciplinary work
  • are curious about knowledge areas outside your own subject background
  • see digitalization and AI as possible tools for inclusion, learning, and independence
  • are confident in meeting young adults and adult participants
  • can create structure, trust, and clarity in learning processes
  • enjoy collaborating and developing learning together with others

Teacher training, folk high school experience, or experience of adult education is meritorious, but we are also interested in other relevant experience.

We offer

With us, you will become part of a small and committed folk high school with a strong desire for development. We work close to the participants and build education where knowledge, self-image, and hope for the future are connected. You will get colleagues who like to think together, try new things, and take responsibility for the whole. We work both on-site and digitally.

The scope of the position is 50–100%, depending on competence areas and the needs of the operations.

Application

Send your application with CV and cover letter to [email protected]. Please tell us which subjects and competence areas you can particularly contribute with, how you use English in learning, and how you view thematic work, digitalization, and AI.

Last day for applications: 2026-07-30

Start date: August 2026 or as agreed

Scope: 50–100%

Workplace: Bona Folk High School, Motala / location-independent working method according to the operation's setup
