Do you want to help create a safe and stimulating school day for our young people? At Ekholmsskolan, we welcome you to a close collaboration with engaged colleagues, where together we awaken students' curiosity both inside and outside the classroom.
Your responsibilities
The role of teacher in Social Studies (SO) and Swedish involves responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching for students in grades 7–9 based on the current curriculum. The work requires that you can adapt pedagogy to the varying needs of the student group and create a structured, challenging, and developmental learning environment.
The role includes the following tasks:
- You are responsible for teaching Social Studies and Swedish for grades 7–9, including planning, assessment, and grading.
- You vary teaching methods and contribute to increasing interest in the subjects by using study visits and theater visits as an integrated part of the pedagogy.
- You use digital tools as a natural part of your daily teaching.
- You share mentorship for a class together with a colleague, which means a shared responsibility for the students' study situation and safety.
- You collaborate regularly with other teachers, guardians, and the school's student health team to create good conditions for each student's development.
- You actively contribute to the school's collegial learning through discussion and reflection together with your colleagues.
Your workplace
Ekholmsskolan is a grades 7–9 school in the southern districts of Linköping. The school has approximately 400 students, including a special education group and a resource school focused on autism. 60 staff members work at the school, most of whom are teaching teachers. The school has a full complement of Student Health Team (SHT) members along with our three full-time mentors. The primary school also shares the building with an adapted primary school.
We strive for Ekholmsskolan to be a safe and accepting school, where you can be exactly who you are. As an employee here, you will have engaged colleagues who appreciate collaborating on students in need of support. Our common mission is to help our students reach their knowledge goals, become democratic citizens, and feel good on the way there.
You who apply
We are primarily looking for you who have a teacher certification with eligibility to teach Social Studies and Swedish in grades 7–9. Secondly, we look for you with a completed teacher education for grades 7–9. Alternatively, you are at the end of your education to become a teacher in grades 7–9. It is meritorious if you have experience in mentorship work for grades 7–9.
It is a requirement that you have experience working in a curriculum-based school through practice or as an employee. It is meritorious if you have taught in grades 7–9 for at least one school year, have experience in mentorship, or are accustomed to documenting learning and setting grades.
In your role as a teacher in grades 7–9, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well acquainted with the curriculum (Lgr22) and other regulatory documents. You have good communicative skills in spoken and written Swedish. This is because, according to the curriculum (Lgr22), you must organize and carry out work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that every student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.
As a teacher, you are a good role model. You have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and let them participate in the design of the teaching.
