At Stora Holm on Hisingen, there are two municipal adapted upper secondary schools that are part of the Education Administration in the City of Gothenburg. Stora Holm AG1 primarily offers national vocational preparatory programs. Our three programs are: Property, Infrastructure and Construction, Vehicle Care and Cargo Handling, and Forest, Land and Animals. The school is located in a quiet, nature-oriented environment with open spaces, well adapted to the programs we offer.

Job Description

We are looking for a sign-language proficient student assistant with a special pedagogical focus for Stora Holm AG1. As a student assistant, you will support students in both practical and theoretical work. Part of the teaching takes place outdoors with practical work within our various vocational programs.

Your role as a student assistant involves supporting and listening, as well as setting boundaries and creating clarity, structure, and security throughout the school day. To succeed, you must be able to adapt your working style to the students' conditions and daily mood, and be able to recognize and utilize their differences. Having the student at the center is a fundamental principle of our operations.

You will also assist our teachers in various teaching situations and participate in lesson planning. You will be the student's communicative link and will accompany and support them in practical aesthetic subjects, gardening, natural resource management, sports, as well as theoretical lessons.

Qualifications

Requirements include at least one year of experience working with youth or children in adapted schools, or several years of relevant experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or multiple disabilities. Experience with low-affective interaction, clear pedagogy, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is required. You must have experience handling and working preventively regarding challenging behavior. This position requires proficiency in sign language.

You must also have a relevant basic education, for example as a student assistant, assistant nurse, or support assistant. Further education, such as teacher assistant, support pedagogue, or activation pedagogue, is particularly meritorious.

You are a stable and secure person who is professional in your role. You are receptive, have excellent collaboration skills, and create good relationships. You are flexible and attuned to the individual conditions of the students.

You have good physical fitness and mobility, the ability to handle heavy lifting, and to participate in students' activities. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language, especially oral communication. Digital competence beyond the basic level is meritorious. A B-class driver's license is also meritorious.
