First Step is a small independent preschool located in Sundby, Ekerö Municipality, with space for 40 children. We are situated in a protected and quiet environment where nature is close by and the forest is our neighbor. Even on our yard, we encounter nature in its full beauty. The yard is a special place for the children to play and learn together with us, their co-researching educators.

We work with small child groups and strive to offer a professional, personal, and secure environment where everyone has the opportunity to be seen and heard. It is a place that is educational, familiar, and calming. Children thrive and get the chance to discover the world at their own pace in smaller settings together with present educators.

Childcare Worker for Preschool

We are now looking for an engaged and driven childcare worker who wants to become part of our team. Here, you will meet a preschool where we see the competent child and are co-researchers in the children's learning.

Qualifications

• You are a trained childcare worker with pedagogical insight and a great interest in children's development and learning.
• You have a professional approach and the ability to build good relationships with children, colleagues, and guardians.
• You are structured, self-initiative, and have good organizational skills.
• You spread joy in work and contribute to a positive and developing work environment.
• You have good teamwork skills and see the value of working together in a team.
• Experience or knowledge of the Reggio Emilia pedagogical philosophy is an advantage.

Responsibilities

At the preschool, we work with children in small groups to create a small-scale environment. This means you need to feel comfortable leading activities independently for a small group of children. The role includes planning together with preschool teachers, taking responsibility for implementation and documentation. You are also responsible for writing blog posts related to your teaching group, as well as follow-up and evaluation of the activities together with your colleagues and the principal.

You will work in close collaboration with preschool teachers, childcare workers, and the principal towards the goals of the curriculum, the preschool's overall concept, our vision, and municipal guidelines. Together with other colleagues, you contribute to a positive, meaningful, and developing environment for every child and the whole group. You are active in the relationship with the children and in their play. We work both outdoors and indoors daily throughout all seasons. In daily contact with guardians, you maintain a clear focus on the child.
