About the workplace

Widerströmska Gymnasium is a municipal upper secondary school at Campus Flemingsberg that opened in the autumn of 2019. Fully developed, the school has space for approximately 450 students, and we share premises with Karolinska Institutet's new research center (the NEO house). We collaborate with Young Enterprise Sweden, Young Innovators, and have close exchanges with the hospital and the academies in the area such as KTH, Red Cross University College, Södertörn University, and Karolinska Institutet. We are also proud to be a certified member of the Care and Welfare College.

The school offers the programs NANA, EKEK, and VO with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship in collaboration with business and academia.

About the job

During the autumn term, we are looking for a substitute school counselor at 80% starting 2026-08-10. As a school counselor, you are an important part of the school's student health team and work closely with both the student health team and other staff, management, and students. You have a central role in the school's health-promoting and preventive work and contribute with psychosocial and social competence. You collaborate as needed with social services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (BUP), field operations, and the police. The work is largely independent and requires good ability to prioritize, plan, and take responsibility for your own professional contribution.

The role includes:

• Talking with students individually and in groups
• Working preventively and health-promoting at the organizational, group, and individual levels
• Identifying and analyzing factors in the school's learning environment that affect students' learning and development
• Participating in meetings with guardians, network meetings, and collaboration with external actors
• Mentoring and supporting school staff in social and psychosocial issues
• Documenting cases prior to decisions on individual measures and for the school's systematic quality work
• Contributing to work on action plans regarding drugs, bullying, active measures, crisis management, values, and conflict management
• You have regular supervision together with counselor colleagues in the municipality

Your role

As a school counselor, you are responsible for planning and implementing psychosocial measures based on the school's needs and the student health mandate, supported by the Education Act and steering documents. You are structured, engaged, and have a positive attitude towards children and young people.

We are looking for you who are relationship-building, communicative, and flexible. You collaborate well with students, guardians, colleagues, and school management, take initiative, and see the best for the operation. You are present in the students' daily lives and actively contribute to a safe and supportive school environment.

You have good analytical skills, continuously develop your work, and see yourself as an important part of creating good conditions for students' learning.

You are responsible for:

• Formulating the plan against discrimination and bullying in dialogue with the principal
• Ensuring that measures are based on current research and proven experience
• Maintaining and developing your professional competence
• Contributing to an open, positive, and professional work climate

Your profile

We are looking for you who:

• Have a social work degree (210 ECTS or equivalent) or other education that the employer considers equivalent.
• Have experience in social work with children and young people, preferably within school or upper secondary education.
• Have good ability to handle structural, organizational, and relational perspectives in school social work.
• Have broad knowledge in social work, psychosocial change work, sociology, psychology, social law, and welfare systems.
• Have very good communicative skills in speech and writing.
• Are structured, responsible, and secure in your profession.
• Easily create good relationships and collaboration forms while working independently.
• Contribute to an open, positive, and solution-focused work climate.
