About the workplace

The Permit Unit is responsible for issuing permits and supervision in accordance with the Alcohol Act, the Act on Tobacco and Similar Products, the Act on Tobacco-Free Nicotine Products, and the Act on the Sale of Certain Over-the-Counter Medicines. The unit consists of seven employees and one manager. Organizationally, the Permit Unit belongs to the Social Services Administration and its support staff. The Social Services Administration's focus on preventive work and public health permeates the Permit Unit, as does its clear focus on good service, lawful authority exercise, and work for an excellent business climate.

The role of Unit Manager means that you are genuinely interested in the conditions for business owners and the unit's ambition to combine service with authority exercise in a balanced way. You have a trust-based leadership style and collaborate well with other authorities and municipalities. You navigate comfortably in a politically governed operation and are secure in your role as a leader and manager.

You will join an experienced and knowledgeable group that takes great individual responsibility and helps each other to fulfill their mission in the best possible way. Your direct manager is the Head of Support Staff, and you have access to various support functions, such as HR, finance, and communications. The rest of the Social Services Administration includes Individual and Family Care, with a mission to enable citizens who need social support to become independent in life so that they can take an active part in society.

Job Responsibilities

As Unit Manager, you lead the operational work and are responsible for personnel, operations, and economy. You ensure that the operations are conducted in accordance with legal requirements, political goals, and the municipality's guidelines, and you follow up on and develop the work together with the employees.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • an academic degree in political science or behavioral science, or alternatively law, economics, or another relevant area as assessed by the employer
  • experience as a manager with responsibility for budget, personnel, and operations
  • experience in authority exercise, preferably within the field
  • experience in working for and promoting a good working environment at the workplace
  • experience in working in a politically governed organization
  • experience in collaboration and networking with internal and external partners
  • good computer skills and the ability to express yourself very well in speech and writing in Swedish

As a person, we want you to:

  • have excellent customer service skills and find it easy to build good relationships
  • be positive, non-hierarchical, independent, and able to lead change
  • have very good collaboration skills, high service awareness, and be stress-resistant

Merits

  • good knowledge of administrative law and/or accounting
