Your role with us

As Head of Unit for our operations unit, you are responsible for the operation and maintenance of public spaces. This includes parks, streets, pedestrian and cycle paths, lighting, squares, and nature conservation areas. The unit is also responsible for green area maintenance on municipal properties. Your task is to ensure that the operations are conducted in a structured, correct, high-quality, and efficient manner, both in terms of execution and economy. You are responsible for planning, prioritization, follow-up, cost control, and content in collaboration with our operations managers.

You work systematically to improve and streamline both the operations and the working environment. You lead, support, and develop the competence of your subordinates. The unit has approximately 80 employees, of whom you have direct personnel responsibility for 11. As Head of Unit, you report to the Division Manager and are part of the division's management group.

Internal and external collaboration with relevant parties, as well as network building, are essential and natural parts of your duties. You are also expected to conduct continuous environmental scanning within the area and work from a holistic perspective. Clarifying and breaking down overarching goals and operational requirements into result-oriented work within the unit is part of the role.

The Head of Unit participates in, and in some cases chairs, various municipality-wide forums. You are also responsible for the overarching resources within your area, such as contracts, storage yards, assets, and inventory. Contract management involves ensuring that comprehensive contracts exist, that the content is correct, and that existing contracts are followed.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who have relevant higher education or other education that the employer deems equivalent. We want you to have at least five years of work experience from operation and maintenance work involving green areas, streets, etc., as well as documented leadership experience with personnel responsibility. Documented experience from working environment issues from a leadership perspective is required, as well as knowledge of LOU (The Public Procurement Act). Knowledge of contract law and experience from politically governed organizations are meritorious.

You handle IT tools as a natural part of your work, and we expect you to communicate fluently in Swedish, both orally and in writing. A B-category driver's license is a requirement.

You are a goal- and result-oriented person with a good ability to lead and motivate others. You set goals, initiate activities, and drive the work towards set results. You are communicative, speak clearly, exude credibility and self-confidence, and have the ability to create quality communication and give clear, constructive feedback. With a development-oriented and strategic ability, you actively contribute to developing operations, making well-founded decisions, and analyzing information from a long-term holistic perspective. We would like you to be good at creating and maintaining good relationships and have the ability to adapt to changed conditions.

About us

The Infrastructure Division of the Technical Administration is responsible for the operation, management, design, and construction of the municipality's public spaces, parks, protected nature, municipal roads, and utility networks. The division also handles the regulatory authority functions that follow the Technical Administration's responsibility for road maintenance and land management.

The Technical Committee is responsible, through the Technical Administration, for the development, construction, and management of the municipality's public spaces and buildings. The Committee is also tasked with arranging municipal water and wastewater supply (VA) and is the road maintenance authority for municipal roads.
