Malmö University is now seeking our next University Director, who, with knowledge, commitment, and a forward-looking perspective, can contribute to the university's development!

Content and Responsibilities

As University Director, you contribute to Malmö University's continued successful development in line with our strategy (https://mau.se/om-oss/strategi/) for an open university focusing on knowledge and society. You lead the university's shared operational support services, which professionally, knowledgeably, and developmentally support the university management and all operations in their work with high-quality education and research with significant societal impact. The shared operational support services are also responsible for ensuring the university fulfills its overarching public authority responsibilities.

You are part of the university management team and collaborate closely with the Rector, other members of the university management, the university leadership group, as well as student unions. You represent Malmö University in various local, national, and international contexts. The role also includes active environmental scanning and operational development regarding issues such as internationalization, digitalization and AI, security and preparedness, efficient resource utilization, as well as environment and sustainable development.

Qualifications

As University Director, you meet the following requirements:

• You have a relevant academic degree.
• You have experience from the university and higher education sector, as well as knowledge of regulations and conditions for public authorities, higher education, and research.
• You have extensive managerial experience at a relevant level from a complex organization.
• You have extensive experience in successfully leading strategic change work within operational support.
• You have high integrity, are development-oriented and responsible, with strong analytical and strategic skills, and have an ability to create and maintain good relationships, as well as excellent teamwork skills.
• You are a clear, engaging, inclusive, and communicative leader.
• You have good ability to communicate well orally and in writing in Swedish and English.

Further qualifications that are meritorious for this position include:

• Experience of being a manager of managers.
• Experience of leading, and in close collaboration with academic leaders, teachers, researchers, and students, designing professional operational support to meet needs in education, research, and collaboration.
• Experience of working in an international environment and of working with internationalization.
• Experience of working with AI and digital systems and of driving digital transformation.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Workplace

The shared operational support consists of approximately 550 employees organized across eight departments: Buildings and Services, Finance, HR, IT, Communication, the Rector's Office, Student Centre, and University Registry, as well as five administrative registries. The operational support is located close to the operations and is present in all our buildings.
