About the Unit

The Research Economics Unit is part of the Economics Department at Skåne University Hospital (Sus). The unit has comprehensive responsibility for research and education funding at Sus, as well as a coordinating responsibility for Region Skåne's total research and education funding within healthcare. We currently have twelve employees in the unit, working as case handlers and controllers, with the mission to support project owners and researchers throughout the entire chain of financial management. This includes everything from budgeting in application procedures to follow-ups and final reporting for project grants, as well as basic accounting tasks. The unit is also responsible for Sus's donation activities, including receiving, managing, and distributing Sus donation and foundation funds. Additionally, Region Skåne's contact persons for healthcare and education matters towards Skåne Care AB are part of our team.

Responsibilities

As a manager leading employees, you steer your operations in the expected direction towards the organization's goals. Your employees' engagement is crucial for success in your assignment, and you value coaching, giving feedback, evaluating performance, promoting collaboration, and creating a good work climate. Together with your employees, you develop the operations through efficient working methods with high quality and continuously follow up for learning and further development. You have employer and management responsibility covering employees, operations, and economy.

In the role of Unit Manager for the Research Economics Unit, you will have a central and strategic position with many contact points. You build and maintain strong relationships with the Research Director at Sus, the research leadership within Region Skåne, as well as Lund University and Malmö University, where collaboration is an important part of the assignment. You also have overall responsibility for developing and driving improvement processes within the research economics and economic areas together with the employee group. With a clear holistic perspective, you work to create efficient, quality-assured, and operationally close economic processes that support and enable successful research activities.

You are part of the management group for the Economics Department together with six other unit managers and the Finance Director, to whom you also report. In this group, you receive important support in your managerial role through experience sharing, joint development, and collegial collaboration. As additional support for your leadership, you also have access to HR partners and a variety of management courses through Region Skåne's Learning Portal.

The unit is located in both Lund and Malmö, which means that as a manager, you lead employees in both locations and are expected to be present in both environments. You operate in a dynamic and collaboration-intensive organization where your leadership contributes to developing operations and strengthening research support from an economic perspective.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a university/college education in economics and several years of experience in economic work related to projects or project-funded operations. You have very good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written. It is meritorious if you have previous experience of management or leadership with responsibility for operations, budget, and personnel. It is also advantageous if you have experience of working in project form within a research environment and/or public operations. We also value if you have experience of leading and implementing change work with a clear focus on participation and collaboration.
