The security policy development and Sweden's role as a NATO ally place the Agency's work in a historically significant context. The development of Sweden's civil defense and crisis preparedness is moving at a high pace, and the Agency plays a crucial role in meeting the demands posed by global developments.

The Agency's operational mandate is broad, both nationally and internationally, with several parts being time-critical. To act proactively and identify risks and events with potentially serious consequences early on, the ability to act around the clock, every day of the year, is required.

Your responsibilities and tasks

As a duty officer, you play a key role within the Agency's operational command system by contributing to our ability to detect, verify, alert, and inform around the clock and throughout the year regarding societal disruptions, serious crises, high alert, or war.

In this role, you are the Agency's contact point in operational activities. This includes initiating and coordinating the Agency's initial operational work and reporting the current situation to the Government Offices.

The working hours are scheduled, including evenings and weekends, and may include night work in the future. Initially, this involves night duty or standby.

Your tasks include, among other things:

• Maintain situational awareness and understanding by identifying and assessing risks and events.
• Conduct systematic information sharing with different functions of the operational command system and external actors, both nationally and internationally.
• Initiate the Agency's initial measures, even under time pressure and with limited information.
• Prepare decision support materials and implement operational direction.
• Participate in the planning and execution of prioritized exercises.
• Contribute to the development of working methods, procedures, and the Agency's operational capability.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant academic education or other knowledge that the employer considers equivalent.
• Documented work experience in operational command or staff work from public or private essential societal services or equivalent.
• Experience working under time pressure and unclear conditions.
• Ability to assess, analyze, and make decisions under time pressure.
• Experience working in an operation where high demands are placed on information security and security protection.
• Very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and English.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Good knowledge of and experience in civil defense.
• Good knowledge of and experience in the Swedish and/or international crisis management system.

About the employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position starting with a probationary period.

Your place of work will be Stockholm, and the work is mainly performed at the office. Travel may occur in the employment. The working hours are scheduled, including evenings and weekends, and may include night work in the future. Initially, this involves night duty or standby.

The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. In the case of placement in a security class, a security investigation with register check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are war-placed.
