Uddevalla – A Place for Life

Welcome to become part of our growing municipality and work with us to provide even better service to our residents.

We offer an attractive workplace that gives you great opportunities to develop in your professional role. Our goal is for everyone to thrive and grow throughout their entire career. We also strive to develop as an employer and actively work to make the most of your knowledge and engagement. We appreciate and encourage participation from everyone.

Uddevalla Municipality is a beautiful place by the sea in the heart of Bohuslän. We believe in an open and positive interaction between the municipality, education, business, and culture.

We hope you will enjoy working with us!

About the Workplace

The role of a Social Secretary involves exercising authority by assessing applications for social assistance. You also work with clients in their change process towards the goal of self-sufficiency.

On our labor market department, we have a successful close collaboration between social secretaries and labor market consultants, enabling clients to become self-sufficient. We also have successful external collaboration with the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) and Komvux at our Job Center.

We have also created an Activity Center, a unit that provides complementary measures for our clients based on new legislation with upcoming activity requirements.

Why You Will Thrive Here

Here, you become part of a workplace where support, collaboration, and development are in focus. You receive close support from three experienced first-hand social secretaries who are available in daily work.

To create good conditions for the core tasks of social secretaries, we have also strengthened the unit with four social administrators who relieve the administrative workload.

We work at fixed office desks and sit in the same building as the labor market consultants at AME, which contributes to close cooperation and good opportunities for knowledge exchange.

As an employee, you are offered external process counseling, the possibility of remote work one day a week, and flexible hours to facilitate the balance between work and private life. Additionally, the office closes at 15:00 on Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and support clients' path to self-sufficiency
  • Investigate the right to financial assistance
  • Document and follow up on agreed planning
  • Collaborate internally and externally
  • Actively contribute to your own, the work group's, and the unit's development
  • You will receive regular support from your first-hand social secretary

Who We Are Looking For

  • You are motivated and relationship-building to help people into self-sufficiency.
  • You are independent and driven, which you show by following up on clients' planning.
  • You are structured, which you show by documenting clearly and on time, organizing, and prioritizing work efficiently.
  • You are resilient, stable, and have high ethics, which you show when setting requirements for clients and handling rejections if the client is not entitled to assistance.
  • You are proactive in collaboration and have a solution-focused approach to achieve the best results for the client.
  • We place great emphasis on personal qualities.

Qualifications

  • You are a Social Worker (Socialsekreterare/Socionom) or have an equivalent bachelor's degree from a university that the employer deems equivalent.
  • You have good knowledge of laws and regulations in the field.
  • You master the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

Meritorious is recent experience working as a social secretary handling social assistance cases.
