In Lidköping Municipality, we actively work to ensure that support for children and young people (0–21 years) with disabilities is designed to strengthen the individual's self-esteem, thereby enabling living conditions as similar to those of other children and young people as possible.

We are looking for staff for our activity Brogården, which targets young people from middle school and upwards with an autism diagnosis. We are also looking for staff for Bostad Barn in Tranum. Here, we work to ensure that every young person feels safe and finds a place in life that promotes friendships and their own social development. We work based on a pedagogically adapted approach, mixing fun activities with purposeful work to practice what the young person or guardian desires.

We have recurring method supervision and internal training so that you gain in-depth knowledge within autism, communication, adaptations, and challenging behavior.

To provide children and young people with disabilities with the prerequisites during their upbringing to be able to live an independent life in the future based on their abilities.

Responsibilities

As a support assistant, you work with meeting, supporting, and motivating young people with the aim of increasing independence and each individual's ability. Your duties include documenting, planning, and working based on the young person's implementation plan. In the role of support assistant, you have several contact areas such as relatives, healthcare, occupational therapists, school, and leisure staff, among others.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have a passed care and nursing education and/or education from the child and youth program with a focus on social work or equivalent. Requirement of Swedish 1 or equivalent at the upper secondary level. Care and Nursing College diploma is meritorious.

You who apply should have experience working with people with various disabilities, preferably children and young people. You have experience working with structure and clarifying pedagogy. You should enjoy working in a structured manner and be able to balance this with flexibility regarding the young people's well-being. Since young people need predictability, planning ability is an important trait, as the work involves a lot of planning and preparation for each stay.

Important qualities are that you have a high sense of responsibility, good initiative-taking ability, are creative, and solution-focused. It is meritorious if you have previously worked with children and young people with challenging behavior. We work a lot with documentation, so computer literacy is a requirement.

Requirements:

• Trained support assistant or other equivalent education.
• Good Swedish in speech and writing.
• Basic digital competence.
• B-driver's license for manual transmission.

Meritorious:

• Passed grades from the Care and Nursing program or the Child and Youth program with a focus on social work, alternatively a youth leader education.
• Experience of work within the area of disability.
• Experience with children/young people in social activities, short-term housing, or HVB (residential care) activities.
• Experience working with people with autism and challenging behaviors.
• Experience working with children and young people with neuropsychiatric diagnoses.
• Previous work with pedagogical planning and structure.

Other

In our activities, all who are to be employed to work within the disability area must, according to law (2010:479), present an extract from the criminal record register to the hiring manager. The form to be used can be downloaded from the Police website. It usually takes between 1–2 weeks to receive it by mail, and it must be shown before employment to the hiring manager.

Your employment will be within the Sector of Social Welfare, Lidköping Municipality, which means that you may be required to work at other units.

The position is permanent, with start date according to agreement. The employment may begin with a probationary period of 6 months.

Your working hours as a support assistant will be scheduled for mornings, evenings, on-call duties, and weekends. Some solo work occurs.

Selection takes place continuously during the recruitment period.

Criminal Record Extract

Before being offered employment, you as a candidate are obliged to present an extract from the criminal record register when working in any of the following areas: school or preschool, work with children in other activities than school and childcare, work with children according to LSS, work at or in connection with HVB homes, work with the elderly or people with disabilities. You order the extract via the Police website. The extract must be presented before employment can begin.
