About the Job

Do you want to become one of our key school counselors within the Primary School Child and Youth Health Services in Lidköping Municipality? One of our current school counselors is moving on to another position, so we are now looking for a school counselor. Primary School Child and Youth Health is a unit within the Student Health Area. The prerequisites will be good, with the main focus of the work lying in preventive and health-promoting efforts in close dialogue with the principal and the rest of the Student Health Team (SHT).

Responsibilities

The school counselor works in the student health team together with a special education teacher, school nurse, and school psychologist, operating at the school unit in close collaboration with the principal and educators. Your main task will be to work health-promoting and preventive. As a school counselor, you will, together with the principal, SHT, and educators, strive for a good pedagogical learning environment with the goal that all students feel well and develop based on their conditions, reaching as far as possible. We see the importance of starting from the students' interests, motivation, and desire to learn together.

The work as a school counselor is multifaceted and includes, among other things, providing your expertise in school development issues, collaborating with educators and the principal to find successful working methods that benefit students' health, development, and learning, supervising staff, and contributing to social and psychosocial assessments. As a school counselor, you add psychosocial competence as support in the pedagogical work and in the overall planning of the student health work. You will also participate in transitions within/among units and operations.

In addition to working at the school unit, you will belong to a professional group with the area/unit's school counselors. In this group, you collaborate with preschool, primary school, and upper secondary school counselors. This involves, among other things, working on issues concerning one's own profession and conducting quality and development work.

All our professions within the SHT have developed main tasks that are anchored both within the profession, the principal group, and our trade unions. This creates clear expectations of the roles in the operations and how the profession is used.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker, social pedagogue, or have another academic education that the employer deems equivalent. You work from a salutogenic perspective and are well grounded in current policy documents and are also well versed in the school's view of knowledge and value-based mission. You focus on a good, accessible learning environment and on developing the operation at the organizational and group levels to promote each student's development and learning. Together with the educators, you see opportunities to develop teaching.

You have a well-functioning collaboration with students, guardians, and educators, and you contribute to a good culture of collaboration. We value that you are a person with great engagement and interest in making a difference for our children and students.

Consideration will be given to personal suitability.
