Are you a Court of Appeal or Administrative Court assessor with an interest in societal issues, and do you want to work with legal matters in a political environment where the mission is to assist the Government in its work, with you as the legal expert providing the legal expertise? We currently have an exciting opportunity for you as a Legal Expert at the Ministry of Finance. Here you will work right at the center of events.

The Financial Markets Division is seeking Legal Experts for the Securities Market Unit, the Banking Unit, and the Insurance, Pension and Authority Governance Unit. As a Legal Expert, you will develop legislation in the financial markets sector, which may involve participating in EU negotiations on new legal acts or working on national initiatives. The work is sometimes conducted at a high pace. The role includes contact with the political leadership of the Ministry of Finance, other divisions and ministries, the Riksdag (Parliament), authorities such as the Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) and the Swedish National Debt Office (Riksgäldskontoret), and various industry organizations.

The Financial Markets Division at the Ministry of Finance is responsible for preparing the basis for the Government's financial market policy. The division works to improve the functioning of the financial market so that businesses and private individuals have access to demanded services on good terms, while financial stability is safeguarded and a high level of consumer protection is maintained.

The Securities Market Unit, the Banking Unit, and the Insurance, Pension and Authority Governance Unit are three of the four units within the division, responsible for developing policy and legislation in their respective areas.

The Securities Market Unit's area of responsibility includes, among other things, stock exchanges and securities companies, trading in financial instruments, securities funds, and market abuse. Current issues for the Securities Market Unit include, for example, legislation regarding securities funds, strengthened consumer protection in connection with advice and purchase of financial products, as well as increased integration of EU capital markets and joint supervision.

The Insurance, Pension and Authority Governance Unit is responsible, among other things, for insurance, occupational pensions, the AP funds, the management within the premium pension system, and central authorities in the financial markets sector. Current issues for the Insurance, Pension and Authority Governance Unit include, for example, legislation regarding insurance and occupational pension companies.

The Banking Unit is responsible for analysis and legislation in the banking sector, the payments market, and the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing. Current issues for the Banking Unit include, for example, legislation regarding payments, capital adequacy and crisis management rules for banks, and the fight against money laundering and financing.

The legislation that the units are responsible for is focused on business and association law regulations and is largely governed by EU law. The division's work is characterized by extensive regulation, rapid technical development in the field, and the EU's regulatory and simplification agenda.

Your background

You are a Court of Appeal or Administrative Court assessor. You have broad legal competence and very good ability to conduct in-depth legal analyses. You possess very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English. Experience of working within the Government Offices, at relevant authorities, or from the financial market is an advantage.

You are quality-conscious while having the ability to work efficiently, maintaining calm and stability even under time pressure. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Other information

We offer several fixed-term appointments as Legal Experts with a six-year appointment with the possibility of extension. Earliest possible start. The employment begins with a six-month probationary period. A security clearance will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
