About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation, remand prisons, and client transport.

Rosersberg Prison

Rosersberg Prison is located north of Stockholm and is a security class 2 prison. In addition to prison places, there are also a number of remand prison places. The workplace is characterized by a family-like environment where different professional groups work closely together. There are also good commuting opportunities within walking distance to the commuter train, as well as access to staff parking.

A major change process regarding renovation and preparations is currently underway. From July 1, 2026, Rosersberg Prison will receive children and young people under the age of 18 who are sentenced to imprisonment, on a special children's and youth unit. This replaces the previous closed youth care as a deprivation of liberty sanction for children and young people between 15-17 years old who commit serious crimes. The focus will be on creating safe environments that promote reintegration into society, with activities such as school, student health services, employment, and age-appropriate leisure activities. Furthermore, the child's rights during the execution of the sentence will be upheld in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Through client-centered work, we create a meaningful existence in an otherwise adult and security-focused environment.

We are now looking for a client case manager with a genuine interest in working with children and young people. Welcome to apply!

Job Description

As a client case manager, you play a central role under the supervision of a Prison and Probation Officer. Your assignment involves being responsible for the overall planning, follow-up, and quality assurance of the work with remand and execution planning. In your work, you make important assessments based on current regulations, guidelines, and practice. As a client case manager on the children's and youth unit, you collaborate with everyone who needs to have contact with our young clients, both internally and externally. You frequently cooperate with functions in other parts of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service as well as external partners such as social services, police, prosecutors, and non-governmental organizations, which gives you a dynamic and stimulating work environment.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who want to work with children and young people. In your professional role, you are secure, stable, and have self-awareness. You see relationships in their proper perspective and distinguish between the personal and the professional. You adapt your behavior to the situation, have a high ability to cooperate, and can independently structure your work. You need to have good judgment, which means making correct assessments and prioritizations, and weighing complex information. You have a good understanding of how humans acquire knowledge and people's different prerequisites, and you adapt the way you convey your message to the recipient. To thrive and succeed in your assignment, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that humans are capable of development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university/college degree with a focus on law, behavioral science, social work, or equivalent
  • Completed the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's basic training
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written

We consider it meritorious if you have:

  • Experience working as a client case manager in a prison
  • Experience working as a client case manager in a remand prison
  • Experience with case management or decision-making.
  • Work experience working with young people aged 15-17 in socially vulnerable situations, especially within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, social services, SiS (Swedish National Board of Institutional Care), schools, or similar.

Interviews

In this recruitment, the selection process will begin after the advertising period has ended, and interviews will take place during week 33 at Rosersberg Prison.
