About the workplace

Nödinge/Kyrkbyskolan is a preschool to year 6 school located in Nödinge, Ale Municipality. Here, approximately 650 students and dedicated employees meet in a learning environment characterized by security, high expectations, and a strong belief in every student's potential to succeed.

Nödinge/Kyrkbyskolan is a PALS school. PALS is an evidence-based values and development work that permeates the entire operation. Through a common approach and clear expectations, we work systematically to promote security, study peace, good relationships, and a positive school environment where all students are given the prerequisites to develop as far as possible.

Tasks

We are looking for an engaged and competent special needs teacher or teacher with qualifications in Swedish as a second language who wants to be a central part of the school's special educational work. Your main assignment will be at the school's years 4-6.

In this role, you are part of the school's special educational team where you, together with special educators, student health services, mentors, and subject teachers, work to create the best possible conditions for students' learning and goal achievement.

The Assignment

Your main focus is Swedish as a second language and language-strengthening initiatives. You work both directly with students and consultatively together with teaching teachers to develop an accessible and language-developing learning environment.

The tasks include among other things:

  • Teaching in Swedish as a second language.
  • Mapping, follow-up, and analysis of students' language development.
  • Planning and implementation of targeted language-strengthening initiatives.
  • Guidance and support for mentors and subject teachers regarding language-developing working methods.
  • Collaboration within the school's special educational team and student health services.
  • Contribute to the school's systematic quality work with a focus on language, inclusion, and accessible teaching.
  • Participation in transitions and reception of newly arrived students when needed.

We are looking for you who

  • Are a certified teacher with qualifications in Swedish as a second language and/or a special needs teacher degree.
  • Have good knowledge of second language development and language-developing teaching.
  • Have the ability to analyze students' needs and translate this into concrete pedagogical initiatives.
  • See the value of close collaboration with mentors, subject teachers, and other professions at the school.
  • Are relationship-building, structured, and have a solution-focused approach.
  • Have an inclusive perspective where the student's strengths and opportunities are at the center.

To succeed in the role, you need to be receptive, collaboration-oriented, and proactive. You easily create trusting relationships with both students and colleagues and are driven by developing teaching that strengthens students' language, learning, and participation.
