Do you want meaningful tasks that make a difference in people's lives? Welcome to the municipality that is far from average!
The Education Department is responsible for preschool, after-school centers, primary school, upper secondary school, as well as adapted primary and upper secondary schools. We have over 3,200 employees at 40 preschools, 22 primary schools, and four upper secondary schools. There is a strong commitment here to ensure that all children and students receive high-quality education, have the opportunity to develop, and reach their full potential. In Botkyrka, we see success in school as the key to a good life and the strongest protective factor for the future.
The Role and Responsibilities
As a Special Needs Teacher/Special Educator, you are a vital part of contributing to Botkyrka Municipality becoming Sweden's best school municipality, where all students are given the opportunity to succeed in school and develop based on their unique prerequisites. You work inclusively and actively with the school's value base and promote a positive learning environment. By collaborating with teachers, the student health team, guardians, and other partners, you contribute to creating cohesion and continuity in students' school journeys.
Hammersta School is a two-parallel F-9 school (grades 1-9) with approximately 460 students, including a municipality-wide special education group for students with language disorders. We are proud that our students achieve high results regarding well-being and happiness at school.
The school is a developing organization, where the special educational perspective is central to meeting today's and future challenges. You are expected to stay updated within special education through further training, collegial learning, and environmental scanning. As an employee here, you are also an ambassador for the school and can participate in events such as open houses and other non-scheduled activities.
Your main tasks include:
- Working with students at the organizational, group, and individual levels in grade 2.
- Mapping, analyzing, and following up on students' knowledge development in grade 2. Based on collected data, you create, together with teachers, good conditions for learning and participation.
- Providing guidance and support to colleagues in pedagogical and didactic work to develop inclusive learning environments, cooperative working methods, and language-developing approaches to ensure that students develop as much as possible both socially and academically.
- Contributing special educational competence to the school's student health team and in collaboration with guardians and external actors.
- Participating in and initiating development efforts related to the school's work on accessibility, equity, and learning.
- Working with documentation, follow-up, and evaluation of interventions.
- Using digital tools as a natural part of the pedagogical work.
What We Offer You
Here you get a unique opportunity to work with fewer students, a targeted effort towards teachers and students in grade 2 with a focus on early interventions based on identified needs.
Hammersta School is an exciting workplace undergoing a development journey. Here, you have the opportunity to help build up the student health work. The goal is to become an interprofessional team that truly becomes a natural and integrated part of the students' school day and the educators' work.
We want to work in a structured, systematic, qualitative, and curious manner - the competencies of the student health team should be fully utilized! You will have the opportunity to contribute your competence and be involved in shaping how the work is organized moving forward so that we conduct cutting-edge student health work.
In Botkyrka, you will meet diversity, commitment, and a strong belief that all students can succeed. Here there are curious students who want to learn and colleagues who are passionate about their teaching. Together we make a difference!
You Who Apply to Us
We are looking for you with a primary teacher license and who are trained as a special needs teacher or special educator. You have good knowledge of language and knowledge-developing working methods, accessible learning environments, and special educational didactics, in whole-class and more targeted interventions.
You should be good at collaborating with others, be adaptable to the needs that arise and any reprioritizations that need to be made as a result of that. We are looking for a team player with patience and commitment to the mission and all students' right to education. The relational approach is a natural part of your way of working.
The assignment requires good communicative skills both orally and in writing, for different assignments, purposes, and recipients. If you have also worked in Prorenata, it is a plus.
As a person, you are curious and interested in staying updated within the field of special educational research. You are relationship-building and collaboration-oriented to ensure the needs of the individual and the organization are met. You also need to be structured to be able to conduct and maintain high-quality work.
