Description of the subject area of the position:
The position covers the subject areas of sustainable energy transition and wind power project planning.
A large-scale expansion of wind energy is an important part of a sustainable energy transition. At the same time, more knowledge is needed about the various transition processes related to such development. The subject areas at the unit work to increase the understanding of how we can maximize the contribution of wind energy, as well as the overarching conditions for a sustainable energy transition in all parts of the energy system. More specifically, regarding the teaching part that is in focus in this position, the subject areas of the education are clarified below.
The subject of sustainable energy transition provides a holistic perspective on the energy area with a broad understanding of different challenges and possible approaches in the transition work. The education also covers social perspectives such as participation and change leadership, which are necessary for long-term sustainability both globally and locally.
Renewable energy is significant for the global energy transition, and wind power is one of the fastest-growing energy sources. The development in the international wind power industry is also rapid, in terms of technology, policy, and acceptance. Consequently, there is an increasing demand for knowledge on how to initiate, lead, and implement wind power projects successfully and sustainably. Uppsala University Campus Gotland in Visby is a leader in interdisciplinary education in wind power project planning.
The subject of wind power project planning covers a broad spectrum of knowledge areas such as planning, environment, technology, energy, wind resources, economics, and grid connection. The subject is broad, encompassing everything from calculating the energy production of wind turbines at a selected site to communicating wind power issues with stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching and administration. Teaching includes course responsibility, course administration, and student contact. The teaching will cover our courses in both the wind power field and energy transition. The teaching will primarily consist of our web-based courses, but campus teaching may also occur.
- Follow developments within the own subject area and societal development in general that are relevant to the work at the university.
- The position will involve work, using the decision-making model MCDA (Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis), in an external research project.
- The position may involve administrative tasks and participation in development and collaboration projects within Uppsala University and the unit.
Qualifications
