Högbyskolan, located in Hemse, is part of the Sudret school district covering Southern Gotland. It is a comprehensive school (grades F-9) with approximately 350 students and is one of five schools in the district. The other schools are Garda, Stånga, Havdhem, and Öja School.

At Högbyskolan, we have approximately 55 employees. We have a well-developed student health team that works across the entire school district to create an equitable school where all students are given the best possible conditions to achieve good results.

Your responsibilities

The position involves teaching Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Technology (Ma/NO/Tk) in grades 7–9. You are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching in accordance with the Swedish National Curriculum (Lgr22) and other governing documents. A key part of the role is collaborating with colleagues, students, and guardians to create a safe and developmental environment.

You are responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching, both individually and in collaboration with work teams and other colleagues. A central part of the job is systematically following the students' knowledge development. You work according to current routines for individual development plans and written assessments. The goal is to create a classroom situation where all students can succeed based on their prerequisites. In consultation with the student health team, you work to ensure relevant measures are put in place for students who need additional support.

You are responsible for creating and maintaining good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. The position includes mentorship, and in the autumn, you will be the mentor for grade 8.

Who are you?

Teaching certification is a requirement for a permanent position.

We are looking for someone who has the ability to lead and motivate students and create a safe and educational classroom situation with engaged and participatory students. Your leadership is characterized by clarity and structure. For the work to be successful, you need to have good collaboration skills and be relationship-building, as good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues are fundamental.

You need to have the ability to adapt your teaching based on results, evaluations, and the individual student's needs. This requires a good understanding of how different students absorb knowledge, as well as the ability to adapt your teaching style both at the group level and the individual level.
