Högbyskolan, located in Hemse, is part of the Sudret school district covering Southern Gotland. It is a comprehensive school (grades F-9) with approximately 350 students and is one of five schools in the district. The other schools are Garda, Stånga, Havdhem, and Öja School.

At Högbyskolan, approximately 50 employees work together with a well-developed student health team. The team works across the entire school district to create an equitable school where all students are given the best possible conditions to achieve good results.

Your Responsibilities

The position consists of two parts. During the school day, you work as a student assistant with the students at the school. You work closely with both students and teachers. A large part of the job involves building relationships with students and creating structures and routines based on their needs and interests. Together with the teachers, you plan and carry out the students' school day; you participate in teacher-led lessons, conduct instruction with support from teachers, and are present during all activities, such as breaks.

Most importantly in working with the students is your ability to create safe relationships with students and their guardians. You challenge students in their learning and use your creativity and broad pedagogical knowledge to create the best conditions for each individual to meet the knowledge requirements of compulsory school.

When the school day ends, the role of student assistant involves working with a specific student at the leisure center (fritids). This student requires close adult support and assistance with communication.

Who are you?

You preferably have education as a student assistant, childcare worker, or other pedagogical education.

Experience working with students with special needs, such as diagnoses within NPF (Neurodevelopmental Disorders), speech disorders, and learning difficulties, is meritorious.

As a person, you are engaged, flexible, and responsible. You have a solution-oriented and low-affective approach and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at the school and the leisure center.
