The Department of Game Design is located at Uppsala University - Campus Gotland, an international campus in the heart of the World Heritage city of Visby. Here you find the best of two worlds: the broad range and weight of the full-scale university's education and research, as well as the unique study environment at a small-scale campus.

The Department of Game Design is part of the Faculty of Humanities and Theology at Uppsala University. Both teaching and research are conducted at a high level here. The department educates approximately 450 full-time students, of whom about half are international students, and has around 45 employees in various positions. The department offers education at undergraduate and advanced levels in game design and game development, including courses in graphics, project management, level design, and programming. All education is conducted in English.

We are now looking for a University Lecturer in Game Design with a focus on Project Management at the Department of Game Design, Uppsala University - Campus Gotland.

Responsibilities

The position includes teaching, development work, course responsibility and course development, as well as administrative work. The teaching is within the game design educational programs, primarily within courses in game design and project management. It also involves working with the department's collaboration with external partners in the industry and cultural sectors, such as through organizing conferences and cooperation with national incubators and game clusters. The development work primarily concerns participation in the work with courses and bachelor's programs in game design as well as event activities. The responsibilities include following developments within one's own subject area and societal development, and actively contributing to the development of both the department and the university.

Regular physical presence at the workplace is required for active participation in the department's work.

Qualifications

The position requires at least a bachelor's degree in game design with a subject specialization in project management, higher education pedagogical education of at least ten weeks or equivalent knowledge, as well as demonstrated pedagogical skill and the ability otherwise required to perform the duties of the position well. If there are special reasons, the higher education pedagogical education can be completed during the year of employment.

The ability to teach in English is a requirement.

Desirable / Meritorious qualifications

Documented experience of teaching and educational administrative work at a Swedish university and knowledge of the university's education system and the department's educational programs. Documented experience of working with national networks of game clusters and game incubators. Attention to detail, good collaboration skills, experience of a project-oriented way of working, and good ability to express oneself orally and in writing in English. Special emphasis will be placed on pedagogical skill, which means that a more pedagogically skilled applicant will be given preference over a more scientifically skilled applicant.
