The mentor role is a social-pedagogical function designed to serve as the connecting link for the students. As a mentor, you will maintain continuous contact with the school's students to build relationships.
The position is primarily a combined role as a mentor and a high school history teacher. Depending on the applicant's preferences, qualifications, and our needs, the position can be split into two part-time roles.
Selection and interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis. The position will be filled subject to necessary decisions being made.
Responsibilities
Mentor:
- Attend classes as needed, assist students with study techniques, and conduct outreach activities.
- Hold development conferences, motivational talks, and participate in student health conferences.
- Collaborate closely with the student health service, maintain contact with guardians, and monitor attendance, among other duties.
You will report directly to the Principal.
High School History Teacher:
- Plan, implement, and follow up on teaching, as well as grade history courses.
Qualifications
- Academic education, preferably in pedagogy, or equivalent knowledge obtained in other ways.
- A teaching certification in history at the high school level is desirable but not required.
- Knowledge of school regulations and legislation.
We have high demands for a professional approach. Providing an extract from the police criminal record is a prerequisite for employment.
