Gymnasieskolan Hjalmar Strömerskolan is seeking a Study and Career Counselor for Autumn 2026

The school has approximately 250 upper secondary students distributed across ten national programs as well as introductory programs. Hjalmar Strömerskolan is a small and personal school with a focus on good study results, international collaborations, and close contact between students and staff.

We operate the business in close cooperation with the local business community and other organizations. The school is certified as a Care and Social Care College and a Technology College, and also graduates certified upper secondary economists. We actively work with the knowledge and value-based mission and have a good structure for systematic quality work.

Job Responsibilities

As a study and career counselor with us, you work closely with students, teachers, mentors, special educators, and other professions in the student health team. Together we create good conditions for learning at the individual, group, and organizational levels.

You will also:

• support students in their study and career choices
• collaborate with teachers regarding study and career counseling interventions in the teaching on our upper secondary programs
• participate in the student health team's work to contribute to a holistic approach to students' development and needs
• have regular contact with guardians and external support functions
• maintain contact with guardians and various support functions available for the students

The role may also involve you being part of the student health team. The position as a study and career counselor is located at Hjalmar Strömerskolan.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree from the Study and Career Counseling Program; it is an advantage if you have experience working at the upper secondary level.

You are the one we are looking for if you have:

• Good knowledge of the school's steering documents and the ability to apply them in daily work
• Experience of collaborating closely with school leadership on issues concerning overarching levels such as program offerings, admissions, and individual choices
• Relationship-building and communicative skills with a good ability to create trusting meetings with students and colleagues
• Receptiveness and pedagogy in your approach
• Interest in developing both yourself and working methods within study and career counseling
• Ability to think new thoughts and contribute ideas in development work
• Basic computer skills and confidence in working with the school's IT systems, for example for grade plans, schedules, and admissions
