Jämtlands Gymnasieförbund is responsible for upper secondary schools, adapted upper secondary schools, and parts of adult education in our member municipalities. The federation's eight schools are located in nature- and mountain-rich environments spread across six municipalities: Berg, Bräcke, Krokom, Ragunda, Åre, and Östersund.
Jämtlands Gymnasium Berg is located in Svenstavik, the central town of Berg Municipality. Here, we offer a safe and personal study environment where every student has room to grow. With small teaching groups and present teachers, good conditions for learning and community are created. Berg Municipality offers magnificent nature with mountains, forests, and lakes right around the corner. Here, there are opportunities for active outdoor life year-round.
Description
Jämtlands Gymnasium Berg is looking for a certified teacher in Social Studies, Psychology, and Sociology. The position is a permanent full-time employment, provided you have teacher certification in the relevant field. The start date is August 10th or as agreed.
Your future responsibilities
In this role, you will teach Social Studies, Psychology, and Sociology on our national programs. A smaller part of the teaching may also be assigned to the introductory program (IM). Mentorship may be included in the role.
You are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on teaching based on the curriculum and course goals, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues. Since Jämtlands Gymnasium Berg is a smaller school, the operations are characterized by close collaboration, short decision-making paths, and a collegial working approach. Co-teaching occurs in several courses, which requires flexibility and good teamwork skills.
As a teacher with us, you are an active part of the school's development work and regularly participate in subject meetings and competence development within Jämtlands Gymnasieförbund. The school runs nationally approved sports education (NIU) in cross-country skiing and alpine skiing, which means that teaching is planned in four different periods during the school year to create good conditions for combining studies and elite sports.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who are a confident, engaged, and self-reliant teacher with the ability to build good relationships and a positive learning environment. You are a clear leader in the classroom and a good role model for students in their knowledge and personal development.
You have a genuine interest in school development and are driven by developing both teaching and operations together with colleagues. Since our school offers nationally approved sports education (NIU) in cross-country skiing and alpine skiing, it is important that you thrive in a flexible school environment where students combine studies with an elite sports commitment. You understand the conditions this entails and can adapt teaching to give students good opportunities to reach their goals, even during periods with camps, training, and competitions.
You are comfortable using digital tools as a natural part of teaching and see the school's learning platform as an important support in communication with students, both on-site and remotely. To succeed in the role, you need to be structured, solution-oriented, and have good ability to plan and follow up on teaching for student groups with varying needs and conditions.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability, teamwork skills, and a professional approach in meetings with students, guardians, and colleagues.
What can we offer you?
We can offer you a pleasant, modern, and dynamic workplace. You will have a role in a work team that supports each other and encourages collegial learning. Just like all our employees, you will have access to a range of staff benefits such as wellness allowances and pension counseling.
