The Department of Science, Design and Sustainable Development (NDH) operates at Campus Östersund and Campus Sundsvall, where we provide education and conduct research within the department's subjects with a focus on sustainable development.

In Östersund, research and education are conducted in building technology, eco-technology, environmental science, and environmental engineering. The subject of building technology is interdisciplinary with a focus on sustainable construction and sustainable urban planning. The subject collaborates with many different actors within and outside the university and has a strong regional presence with a regional industry council linked to the subject group.

We are looking for you who are passionate about teaching and who want to be part of our subject group and thereby our Bachelor of Science in Engineering programme, Building Engineer Sustainable Construction 180 hp. The programme has a strong environmental profile that permeates all courses and is offered both at Campus Östersund and via distance learning. The education is conducted in close collaboration with companies and authorities in the region.

Responsibilities

The position involves teaching, educational administration, and development work within the areas of construction production, design, construction planning, and building technology. Since many of the subject's courses are offered via distance learning, a large part of the teaching takes place via web-based learning platforms.

Qualifications

The person appointed as University Lecturer must be qualified according to the requirements described in Mid Sweden University's employment regulations.

To qualify as a University Lecturer at Mid Sweden University, a minimum of 180 higher education credits is required, including at least 90 higher education credits in the subject or equivalent within the subject area the appointment concerns. You should have broad competence in the subject areas mentioned above.

Assessment Criteria

As assessment criteria for the appointment of a University Lecturer, the degree of such skill that is a requirement for qualification for the appointment applies. The assessment of pedagogical skill should be given equal care as the assessment of other qualification-based conditions.

You must have documented experience of teaching, course responsibility, and general educational administration, as well as good knowledge of Swedish both orally and in writing.

You should have an interest in collaborating and working on the development of courses in close collaboration with the local business community. A PhD is an advantage.

Since we often work in teaching teams, we place great importance on your ability to collaborate, and we would like you to be flexible, have good initiative, and be able to take responsibility.

Processing

The processing of the appointment follows the forms specified in Chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and continues in accordance with Mid Sweden University's employment regulations.

Employment and Commencement

The employment is a fixed-term contract for 75% of full-time, from 2026-07-01 or as agreed/earliest until 2027-06-30. Possibility of extension may exist.
