Jämtlands Gymnasieförbund is responsible for upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, and parts of adult education in our member municipalities. The federation's eight schools are located in nature and mountainous environments spread across six municipalities – Berg, Bräcke, Krokom, Ragunda, Åre, and Östersund.
Jämtlands Gymnasium Berg is located in Svenstavik, the central town of Berg Municipality. Here we offer a safe and personal study environment where every student has room to grow. With small teaching groups and present teachers, good conditions for learning and community are created. Berg Municipality offers magnificent nature with mountains, forests, and lakes just around the corner. There are opportunities for active outdoor life year-round.
Description
Jämtlands Gymnasium Berg is looking for a certified upper secondary school teacher in history combined with another subject. The position is a 100 percent temporary assignment during parental leave, starting September 15, 2026.
As a teacher with us, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on teaching based on the curriculum and course objectives. You work closely with colleagues and students in a smaller upper secondary school where collaboration, engagement, and good relationships are important parts of the operations.
We offer a developing work environment where you have the opportunity to contribute to students' knowledge development and be involved in the school's ongoing development work. Start date is September 15, 2026, or as agreed.
Your future responsibilities
The work involves teaching on the school's national programs, and part of the position may also be allocated to the IM program. Mentoring is included in the position. You plan, implement, and evaluate your teaching independently and together with colleagues.
The work involves close collaboration with staff and the principal at the school, as well as across subject and operational boundaries. Since the school is small and joint teaching occurs in most courses, a flexible approach is required.
You are involved in the school's development work and participate regularly in team and subject meetings, both at the school and within JGY.
The school runs NIU (National Sports High School) in cross-country skiing and alpine skiing, which means that teaching is scheduled in four different periods during the school year.
Who are you?
You are an independent, driven, and confident teacher and leader who serves as a clear role model in the school's operations. You are driven by improvement and development work and thrive in a flexible study environment.
You understand the conditions that apply to students who combine studies with a sports commitment and can provide support and encouragement during periods with camps and competitions. Since parts of the student group are occasionally outside of school, you need to be comfortable adapting teaching and communicating with students via the school's learning platform as a natural part of your daily work.
We value good cooperation skills, a professional approach, and place great emphasis on personal suitability.
What can we offer you?
We can offer you a pleasant, modern, and dynamic workplace. You will have a role in a work team that supports each other and encourages collegial learning. Just like all our employees, you have access to a range of various employee benefits such as fitness subsidies and pension counseling.
