About the Department

The Department for Work and Learning is responsible for, among other things, individual and family care, the labor market and employment, as well as adult education and upper secondary school. Our fundamental mission is to offer education and support measures based on the individual's needs and conditions. Through early, promoting, and preventive measures, we conduct targeted work in collaboration with other societal actors.

Education and Employment is a division responsible for upper secondary and adult education, as well as measures and employment for persons with mental disabilities or those who need support to achieve sustainable self-support. In addition to educational and support measures, we work with work training, internship coordination, and matching with the labor market.

Responsibilities

We are looking for you who want to be part of our operations and contribute to giving more people the opportunity to study in order to break out of exclusion, change direction in life, establish themselves on the labor market, or take the step further to higher education.

As a study and career counselor with us, you will meet a broad target group. This includes students in upper secondary school, newly arrived adults in Swedish for Immigrants (SFI), individuals who wish to complete their compulsory or upper secondary education, individuals interested in vocational training, and those who wish to study further at a university college or university.

In the role, you work with study and career counseling at both the individual and group levels. Together with the student, educational providers, and industries, you plan validation and complementary educational measures with the goal of achieving grades or certificates. The assignment also includes developing counseling for newly arrived individuals and strengthening the possibilities of combining language learning with other educational paths. Admission work is an important part of the position, as is graduation planning for our students.

As a study and career counselor with us, you collaborate closely with several different actors, such as other counseling colleagues, the labor market unit, operations within social psychiatry, various educational providers within adult education and upper secondary school, KAA coordinators, and units within social services. You also collaborate with the local business community, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and other external actors.

The position also includes conducting outreach activities to reach individuals in need of support, as well as actively working to motivate them towards studies or other employment.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a commitment to people, have a good ability to collaborate with different types of professional categories, and are open to individual solutions based on the individual's needs and conditions. You are engaged, unpretentious, receptive, have good communication skills, and are self-initiating. You are accustomed to handling a variety of cases at times of high tempo and are proficient in related administrative tasks and digital systems.

We are looking for you who have a degree in study and career counseling, but other higher education that is assessed as equivalent is also valuable. We consider it meritorious if you have experience and knowledge from study and career counseling within upper secondary school and adult education and labor market political assignments.
