RESPONSIBILITIES

Östra Lugnet and Hagavik Adapted Primary School consists of students in grades 4-9 and shares premises with two primary schools, Östra Lugnets School and Hagavik School. At Östra Lugnets School, we have 4 mixed-age classes in grades 4-6, and at Hagavik School, we have 6 mixed-age classes in grades 7-9. In total, there will be approximately 70 students at the start of the autumn term 2026.

The teaching is based on the curriculum for adapted primary schools. In the classes, teachers and teaching assistants work closely together. Our goal is for all students to encounter a learning environment adapted to their abilities. Taking individual prerequisites into account, we build a strong community within the group. Together, we create safety, well-being, and knowledge development. Our aim is for students to develop a strong belief in their own abilities and to succeed in awakening a lifelong desire for learning and development. We work in smaller classes with good access to staff so that all students are well-received in their learning and social development. We strive to be clear and structured so that all students get a sense of coherence and can meet the expectations that exist. We want our students to be involved in their own learning, and therefore, the students' thoughts and participation are an important part of our planning work.

You will be responsible for planning and conducting teaching according to the curriculum for adapted primary schools and the established common operational structures and pedagogical working methods. You will collaborate with another teacher in textile crafts.

You are part of a team with other practical-aesthetic teachers, including additional craft teachers. To support your work, we also have a resource team consisting of a special educator and a special teacher for language, writing, and reading development.

As a teacher at an adapted primary school, you meet students in smaller groups, usually four to eight students, and we strive to offer practical-aesthetic subjects in half-class settings as much as possible. You are given the conditions to establish good relationships with the students and to see each individual based on their prerequisites. In the classes, teachers and teaching assistants work in close cooperation regarding the students' social and knowledge development. The teaching assistants follow the students throughout their entire school day, even during practical-aesthetic lessons.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are primarily looking for you who are a certified special needs teacher with a specialization in intellectual disability. We also welcome applications from you who lack special needs teacher qualifications, with or without teacher certification and eligibility to teach in wood and metal crafts. We would appreciate it if you had previous teaching experience, but this is not a requirement.
