As Head of Communications, you lead the Communications Service at the Ground Combat School (MSS) based on established plans and objectives – and support the unit command and garrison in internal and external communications. We need you to create the right conditions for the Army and the Swedish Armed Forces as a whole, together with engaged colleagues.
The Ground Combat School (MSS) trains professional officers, trains the Army's combat units, and develops equipment, methods, tactics, and publications – thereby creating conditions for the Army to solve its tasks in the best possible way, both nationally and internationally.
MSS also performs tasks for the entire Swedish Armed Forces, such as the development and procurement of soldier-carried equipment, small arms, and support weapons.
Main Responsibilities
As Head of Communications, you will plan, lead, develop, and follow up on the communications service at MSS, both internally and externally, and support the communications departments of the Defence Staff and the Army Staff. Based on the Swedish Armed Forces' military strategic communication goals, you will develop plans, messages, and objectives that guide how and through which channels MSS's various activities are communicated.
You will collaborate closely with colleagues in the garrison, the Army, and other branches of the armed forces and combat units.
You will be responsible for communications before and during the Army's major exercises where MSS has the main responsibility for planning and implementation – regardless of whether the exercises are conducted in Sweden or abroad.
In your role as Head of Communications, you are the unit's contact person and will handle inquiries from media, the public, and other authorities. You will plan, coordinate, and conduct press activities and prepare spokespeople.
You have personnel responsibility and are part of the MSS leadership group.
Qualifications

- Experience in strategic and operational communication work

- Experience from working in state or municipal authorities
- Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and good ability in speech and writing in English

Personal Attributes
Since the work involves a broad range of tasks, you need to enjoy variety within the communication field. We would like you to be stress-resistant and solution-oriented, with the ability to adjust your pace to handle periods of high workload effectively.
The activities of the Communications Department entail great variation in the daily service, where your ability to adapt and openness to the task is necessary. You need to have a good ability to develop and maintain good contacts and constructive cooperation regarding media relations. As a person, you should be structured with good planning and analytical skills.
We also see that you can solve tasks in a structured and independent manner with a holistic focus in all time perspectives. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
