KSU, Nuclear Safety and Education AB, ensures the competence of personnel at Swedish nuclear power plants through both theoretical education and practical training in full-scale simulators. The company is in a growth phase, and we see an exciting future in ensuring competence for long-term and new nuclear power operations. The business is conducted from our headquarters in Nyköping as well as from our training facilities located near the nuclear power plants in Forsmark, Oskarshamn, and Ringhals. KSU, with approximately 180 employees, is co-owned by Forsmarks Kraftgrupp AB, OKG AB, and Ringhals AB, and is part of the Vattenfall Group, Business Unit Vattenfall Power Solutions (VPS).
Who are we at KSU?
One of our most important tasks is to train the operations and maintenance staff of Swedish nuclear power plants. We contribute to safe and stable nuclear power operations and, together with our customers, we are creating the education of the future.
The Simulator Systems Unit is responsible for the systems and software in KSU's full-scale simulators. The simulators are located in Oskarshamn, Ringhals, and Forsmark, but are also managed centrally from KSU's headquarters in Nyköping. We are now expanding the unit with another Systems Engineer!
We offer an interesting and enjoyable role where you work with programming, integration, and software development. You will have excellent opportunities for personal development within a unit with solid experience and high competence. The work is autonomous, and you have significant influence over how you plan your time. At the same time, it is a responsible role, and sometimes extra effort is required during disruptions or tight schedules.
As a Systems Engineer at KSU, you are the central hub for the simulator's software and functions. You are the one who brings the parts together to create a functioning unit and are responsible for ensuring high availability of the simulator. You work with troubleshooting, support, and actions during downtime, as well as the integration of simulator changes. The role also includes developing tools and procedures for simulator operation.
The simulators undergo continuous modifications due to changes in the nuclear power plants and preventive maintenance work, meaning you will spend a significant amount of time working on projects. There are good opportunities to develop as a project manager.
You will have both internal and external contacts with other training units and nuclear power plants, as well as suppliers. It is important that you appreciate working both independently and collaboratively with colleagues, both locally and remotely.
Requirements
- Several years of professional experience in systems engineering and experience with virtualization
- Experience working with software development in real-time environments is advantageous, as is experience with backup management and network configuration
- Programming skills; we prefer candidates with experience in languages such as Python, Fortran, or C
- University-level engineering degree or equivalent experience
- Good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Valid driver's license (Category B)
As a person, you value both focused individual work and teamwork. You take initiative when problems arise and ask for help from colleagues if you risk getting stuck. You have an open-minded attitude towards existing technical choices and handle software development and maintenance of complex systems with the same sense of responsibility and endurance.
Location
Nyköping. Some travel may be required as part of the role. The position is full-time, daytime hours.
Contact Persons
The hiring manager is Robin Wahlström. Union representatives are Mikael Stenmark (Unionen), Jörgen von Ubisch (Ledarna), Ingemar Eriksson (SEKO), and Gustaf Treiber (Akademikerna).
We look forward to your application!
