Job Description

As a Research Coordinator at the Department of Computer Science and Media Technology, you have overall responsibility for ensuring that the department's work on externally funded research and innovation is strategically cohesive, long-term sustainable, and aligned with external directives and regulations. This includes analyzing the funding landscape, making qualified contributions to application and preparation processes, and coordinating, monitoring, and developing ongoing and planned initiatives within computer science, digitalization, and other IT-related fields.

You contribute to the development and prioritization of project ideas and ensure that the department's applications and implementation are coordinated, efficient, and compliant with current regulations. You are responsible for strategic contacts with authorities, funders, and other key stakeholders, as well as creating long-term synergies between the department's various initiatives.

The role is part of the department's strategic infrastructure and is not limited to support for individual projects or applications. The work takes place in contexts where multiple actors, funding sources, and interests meet, and where balancing academic ambitions, financial conditions, and administrative requirements is a recurring part of daily life. Therefore, the work requires experience operating in contexts where responsibility has included prioritization, assessment, and monitoring of externally funded initiatives at the portfolio or system level.

A central part of the work is to contribute to the department's long-term capacity and environment building within research and collaboration, as well as to monitor and analyze political and strategic choices at the EU, national, and regional levels, and translate this understanding into the department's operational planning and development.

You work closely with research activities, under the direction of the Head of Department and the department's leadership. By participating in strategic discussions and representing the department in external networks and partnerships, you contribute to strengthening both the research environment and the long-term capacity of the department. You create conditions for joint initiatives and strengthen interdisciplinary collaborations both within Linnaeus University and with other higher education institutions.
