Do you want to combine pedagogical leadership with a daily life close to mountain nature? Welcome to Ottsjö Preschool – a small and family-oriented preschool.

The preschool started under new management in January 2026. The preschool is currently run privately without profit motive, and the owners live and work in Ottsjö. As our current principal is moving to another area, we are looking for a new principal with an interest in leadership combined with work as a preschool teacher in a children's group. The position is 100% with a start in the autumn.

Here you will meet a warm atmosphere where it is easy to build good relationships with both children and adults. There are present pedagogues and a community that wants the best for the children.

About our operations

We work inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and place great importance on our pedagogical environments. We base our work on the child's joy of exploration.

We have a Sami orientation with group operations. Together, we cherish Sami traditions and culture.

We live in a mountain environment, which we use in our pedagogy by connecting with surrounding plants and nature.

Our meal staff cooks all food from scratch, and we want to support children's curiosity about different flavors through food.

We have approximately 20 children divided into two children's groups. Among the staff, we have one preschool teacher, three pedagogues, and one meal coordinator.

The Assignment

We are looking for a principal and school manager at 50% who wants to contribute to further developing our operations. As a principal, you have overall responsibility for leading the preschool's operations, staff, economy, work environment, and systematic quality work. You work in close collaboration with the board, which is ultimately responsible for the preschool. As a school manager, you ensure that the Education Act, curricula, and other national regulations are followed throughout the operations.

You work in a small organization with short decision-making paths, where you, together with the staff, drive development forward with a focus on quality, structure, and a good work environment. Our preschool is newly established, which means that the principal, together with the rest of the staff, builds the operations from the ground up. You should enjoy development work and have a desire to drive development forward together with the staff group. The role is characterized by close and present leadership. You combine your role as principal with work as a preschool teacher in a children's group at 50%.

The role includes:

• leading APT (once/month) and participating in board meetings (once/week)
• collaborating with external actors in Åre Municipality
• leading employees and conducting employee interviews, etc.
• having contact with guardians and children
• administrative work
• reporting to the board

As a principal at Ottsjö Preschool, you have a varied and meaningful role where you alternate between being operational and strategic in leadership as well as pedagogical work in the children's group.
