Folkuniversitetet Komvux in Östersund

Folkuniversitetet's assignment for the Municipality of Östersund includes mapping students prior to SFI (Swedish for Immigrants), SFI teaching, and basic courses in Swedish as a second language. Both SFI and basic Swedish as a Second Language (SVA) are offered during the day, in the evenings, and via distance learning as a complement to the school-based evening instruction.

Qualifications

A teaching license with eligibility for SFI is required. It is meritorious if you also meet the eligibility requirements for basic SVA/SVE (Swedish as a First Language).

Pedagogical Profile and Personal Attributes

You have good knowledge and understanding of adult learning. You thrive when building teaching around content that is relevant to the students. By using daily life, working life, civic life, and study life as a red thread throughout the teaching, you create engagement and interest in the development of both language and knowledge. You have a genuine interest in where the student is heading in the next step of their journey.

Together with colleagues and students, you complement traditional teaching materials for mass and skill training with authentic material. You view the municipality's study and career counselor as a resource to collaborate with. You understand the importance of working focused on students' pronunciation early on. You use digital tools thoughtfully so that they become actual learning resources.

You are accustomed to the flexibility requirements of adult education and contribute to the joint development of the work team. You find balance in your work by combining your existing knowledge with new skills. You are attentive to how students' learning develops and are not afraid to discuss less successful days in the classroom with management and colleagues. Problem-solving and creativity are second nature to you.

About the Position
